Whether you are • still in high school or just out of high school • uncertain about what to study • planning to transfer credits to a bachelor’s degree program at a university • ready to train for the next step in a fl ourishing career • retired and itching to try a new career • laid off or tired of working dead-end jobs and seeking a real career • in search of custom training for your employees • eager to return to school after raising children • simply curious about new fi elds of knowledge • ready for non-credit leisure and personal interest classes you will fi nd a positive environment for learning at ACC. Our faculty and staff bring energy, qualifi cations, can-do attitude, experience, and inventiveness to the project of your success, whatever your educational goal. Former students continuing elsewhere often tell us that the best instruction they ever received was at ACC. Governor Snyder recently commended community colleges for restraining costs, and tuition/fee expenses at ACC are only about one-third of those at public universities. In addition, multiple forms of fi nancial aid are accessible with the help of our friendly and capable staff. Many new scholarships have been funded through the ACC Foundation. ACC’s value really shines when a person realizes the long-range benefi ts of higher education. Lifetime earnings for associate degree holders average $500,000 more than those of high school graduates; for holders of bachelor’s degrees, the average is $1 million more. College-educated people are more likely to remain employed, less likely to need public assistance, more likely to remain fi t and healthy, less likely to abuse alcohol and other substances, and less likely to commit crimes than people trying to make it through life without college. Supported by these components of the value proposition, we stand on solid ground when we say: “Discover the value of an ACC education.” Sincerely, Olin Joynton President 2 Introduction Institutional Profi le FUNDING: Property taxes (18%), state appropriations (35%), tuition and fees (45%), and other sources (2%) for the 2012-13 year.
