(Continued to Page 3) Page 2 Vista Friday, December 18, 1970 University - Antiquated? In viewing the campus scene, one may find the University of San Diego about ten years behind the times. On a campus where Club football remains the current issue, something is definetly missing. Political apathy runs rampant among the comfortable "flag brained" mentality shown on this campus. The old overworked psuedo-solution "love it or leave it," doesn't phase me anymore. For if we all leave, what would happen to this university. To change tfcis university, one should be aware that change is necessary. Some of us seem to be afraid that we are being manuvered by some sort of underground subversion. The 1950's went through a giant "commie" scare. Those who are still living in that crew-cut age are unaware. You don't know what's happening, do you, Mr. Jones? Don't get me wrong, please. I am not rapping about "what's happening." I'm merely trying to find out! If we are going to this college to learn how to exist in this society, we are blowing it. Places where "Club Football" and "alcohol on campus" echo through out the halls, don't make it, at all! If we are going to this college to study middle-America's dying days we are getting what we payed for. It's all here, paranoia, guilt, self-righteousness, conservatism, and hate! What more could we all ask for? I hope, much more! But then, what do I know? I am only a product of my times, caught between different levels of change. I am partly the product of this university. Potential for change and a need for security, has kept me here at USD. If I truely didn't like it I would leave. If I didn't care about USD, I wouldn't write articles like this, Of Pacific Plant Protection. During destroyed. After having conferred I wouldn't care to change certain facades around here, I'd merely come the entire summer, there were two with coach Woolpert, it came to my and go, and my brain would die!
