JINDAL MINING SA (PTY) LTD COMMUNITY / INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT PROGRESS REPORT PROJECT INFORMATION Project name Ematafuleni Early Childhood Sponsored by Jindal Mining SA (Pty) Ltd Development Centre Project Contact detail 017 492 0001 / 079 598 2038 Handing Over of Department of Social Facility Development (DSD) Region Piet Retief, Mpumalanga Name of operation Kiepersol Colliery Mine Project Manager Monde Nembula, SLP Manager Type of Project Infrastructure Development PROJECT DETAILS Project location The project is situated at Ematafuleni CPA in Piet Retief, Mkhondo Local Municipality, Gert Sibande District Municipality Project Background : Upgrade of an existing Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD) - (Matafuleni CPA, Mkhondo Local Municipality) As part of the Social and Labour Plan commitments, the Jindal Kiepersol Colliery Mine has implemented an Infrastructure Development project in Ward 18 of the Mkhondo Local Municipality. The Colliery has invested R600 000.00 in the upgradation of an Early Childhood Development Centre situated within the Matafuleni CPA, Mkhondo Local Municipality. The project comprises the upgrading of an existing 2x4 SQ metres ECD Centre made from corrugated iron with kitchen and ablution block to service children from Matafuleni, Sangweni and KwaNgema communities. Jindal will hand over the structure to the Department of Social Development (DSD) once completed as the mandated entity over CBD institutions. The project is Public Private Partnership and is fostered through forming partnerships with the DSD. The DSD will after completion takeover in terms of maintenance and facility subsidisation. The project has created ten (10) temporary employment opportunities to Matafuleni CPA during construction phase. A local contractor by the name of Light Dwellings was appointed and the project is now 100% complete. .
