Brief Project Summary Project: Development of Vadodara Mumbai Expressway (Phase-II) from km.26.32 to km.104.700 (km.390.864 of NH-8) of Main Expressway in the state of Maharashtra Brief Project Summary 1. The proposed alignment of Mumbai – Vadodara Expressway (Phase-II), a greenfield alignment, starts from proposed chainage km 26+320 (near Vasai in the state of Maharashtra) and ends at chainage km 104+700 (km 390+864 of NH-8 near Talasari in the state of Maharashtra). 2. Total length of the Phase-II alignment is 78.38 km and proposed Right of Way (RoW) is 100 / 120 m 3. The proposed alignment is passing through 4 talukas (Vasai, Palghar, Dahanu and Talasari) of Palghar district in the state of Maharashtra. The alignment is passing through plain and rolling terrain with cultivated and barren areas 4. The project road crosses 51 villages in Palghar district. The predominant land use along the alignment is agricultural followed by vegetation cover including forest. 5. The proposed expressway passes through Dahanu Taluka Eco Fragile Zone for a length of 27.8 km from km 68+400 to km 96+200. An area of 346.44 ha is to be acquired in Dahanu Taluka. 6. The proposed expressway falls within 10 km of the Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary and the nearest distance is 1.8 km. 7. CRZ is present along the alignment for a total length of 3.575 km in Vasai (from Km 29.900 to km 30.434 & km 30.462 to km 30.800) and Palghar Taluka (km 30.800 to km 32.100; km 35.430 to km 36.833). Total CRZ area in Vasai Taluka is 7.214 ha and in palghar Taluka is 17.157 ha. however, the area will not be disturbed except for erection of pillars. 8. The proposed expressway requires approximate 926.236 Ha of land acquisition; which includes 85.093 Ha in Talasari Taluka, 343.558 Ha in Dahanu Taluka, 442.743 Ha in Palghar Taluka and 54.841 Ha in Vasai Taluka of Palghar District 9. Total forest area to be diverted is 86.7152 ha; out of which 4.06 ha is in Talasari Taluka, 41.06 ha in Dahanu Taluka and 41.59 ha in Palghar Taluka of Palghar district. 10. Major river crossing are Vaitarna River (at Ch. Km 31+300, 35+725 and 45+040), Surya River (at Ch. Km 68+420), Suseri River (at Ch. Km 72+190), Jogani Nadi (at Ch. Km 89+500) and Yadvali Nadi (at Ch. Km 96+208). 11. Details of proposed development . Proposed RoW is 100 / 120 m. It will be a eight lane divided carriageway with 12m wide depressed median. The carriageway width is 15 m with 3.0 m wide paved and 3.0 m wide earthen shoulders. Further it is proposed to build service roads along the expressway at some locations to facilitate movement of local traffic across expressway. Bridge: The expressway alignment is crossing major / minor rivers, drains and nala at number of locations where major / minor bridges have been proposed as per hydraulic considerations. 8 major bridges and 29 minor bridges have been proposed. P a g e | 1 Brief Project Summary . Culverts: 75 RCC box culverts and 25 Hume pipe culverts are proposed across the alignment to prevent disturbance of the natural and artificial drainage system . Interchange is proposed at 2 locations, crossing of Dahanu Kasa Khurd (SH-30) and crossing of Surat-Dahisar Sect of NH-8. 4 Flyovers; 15 Vehicular Underpasses (size 12m x 5m); 3 Overpasses (size 2m x 41 m); 26 Pedestrian Underpasses (size 6m x 3.5m); 47 Cattle Underpasses (size 6m x 3.5m) and 9.390 km Service Road, 2 truck parking have been proposed. Toll plaza has been proposed at 6 locations (on loop / ramp) and way side amenities have been proposed at 6 locations. Estimated Project Cost: INR 5,111.45 Crore 12. Total water requirement for 36 months of construction period is 2002 KLD. It would be sourced from surface (30%) and ground water (70%) 13. 27 lakh MT Cement, 107.9 lakh MT Aggregate, 63.9 lakh MT Sand, 2500.00 MT Bitumen, 0.69 lakh KL Diesel, 387.4 lakh cum earth material is estimated to be required for construction of the expressway. The construction material will be sourced from government approved quarries and borrow areas identified along the proposed expressway.
