Classical Elegance.Modern Perspectives Department of Human Development and Family Studies Degree Offered █ Bachelor Programs █ Master’s Programs █ Doctoral Programs Introduction The Department of Human Development & Family Studies, formerly the Department of Home Economics Education, was founded in 1953 with the objective of training secondary school teach- ers. The Master’s and Doctoral Programs were established in 1982 and 1996 respectively. The Undergraduate Program encompasses three major fields-- Home Economics & Family Life Educa- tion, Early Childhood Development & Education, and Nutritional Science & Restaurant Manage- ment. The Master’s Degree Program encompasses three major fields--Family Life Education, Early Childhood Development & Education and Nutritional Science & Education. Except for three fields, we established Graduate Institute of Hospitality Management & Education in August, 2008. Doc- toral Program encompasses four major fields-- Family Life Education, Early Childhood Development & Education, Nutritional Science & Education, and Hospitality Management & Education. Research Fields The focus of our department is on the quality of human life, studying professional domains includ- ing Family Life Education, Early Childhood Development and Education, Nutritional Science & Education, and Hospitality Management & Education. In an effort to meet urgent societal devel- opment needs, our department offers three career tracks for each professional domain: teaching/extension, communication, and management/marketing.
