Dr. TATTOFF is the nation’s first branded chain of tattoo removal clinics. A word play on the phrase, the “doctor that takes tatts off,” Dr. TATTOFF is the leading tattoo removal company in the United States. Founded in the nation’s beauty capital, Beverly Hills, California, in 2004, the company has experienced rapid phenomenal growth. To date, the Dr. TATTOFF staff have performed over 15,000 laser treatments, operate three Southern California locations, and are considered the absolute experts in the field of tattoo removal. Dr. TATTOFF prides itself on being on the pulse. Each Dr. TATTOFF clinic is a state of the art medical facility. Waiting patients can check their email and surf the internet on waiting room computers or pop in one of their favorite films and watch it right there on one of Dr. TATTOFF’s plasma big-screen televisions. In launching Dr. TATTOFF, the purpose was to create a medical environment that would appeal to the type of person who has a tattoo. The genesis for Dr. TATTOFF started while Founder and CEO James Morel was living in New York in the late 1990’s. After days of struggling to find a place to have his own embarrassing tattoo removed, Morel realized that there must be millions of people like himself who had a tattoo they no longer wanted. Morel did eventually have that tattoo removed. Although he’ll never say what that tattoo was, his own tattoo removal experience led him to start Dr. TATTOFF. The Dr. TATTOFF partners have equally colorful stories, and in fact, include some of television’s most recognizable faces. Dr. Will Kirby (star of Dr. 90210 and winner of Big Brother), actor Christopher Knight (Brady Bunch and My Fair Brady star), and Mike “Boogie” Malin (winner of Big Brother All-Stars) all own Dr. TATTOFF. Its a wonder Dr. TATTOFF does not have its own reality show! Stay tuned. Dr. TATTOFF has received significant media coverage. THE FOUNDERS James Morel CEO The self-described “art project”, James Morel graduated from Syracuse University with a double Major in Advertising and Psychology. Early in his career, Morel began designing and distributing highly coveted hipster style “Val Packs” and postcards. His postcard business evolved into 1-800 POSTCARDS. In a matter of just a few years, Morel turned 1-800 POSTCARDS into a multimillion-dollar national marketing entity with over 40 employees. Morel’s creative streak, and extensive literary and entertainment contacts next led him to create and publish the critically acclaimed POPsmear Magazine. Morel followed that success in 2002, with the creation of E! Entertainment’s “Star Dates”. The second highest rated television show in network history, “Star Dates” was a hilarious cross between “Where Are They Now” and “Blind Date.” Today, Morel owns Dr. TATTOFF, the nation’s first branded tattoo removal chain devoted exclusively to tattoo removal. Morel founded Dr. TATTOFF after struggling for days to find someone to remove his own embarrassing tattoo. Morel’s celebrity friends, actor Christopher Knight and Dr. Will Kirby joined forces with Morel, and opened Dr. TATTOFF in 2004.
