Costume ideas for 3rd/4th grade musical “GO WEST!” Students can wear all or some of the items listed by their character. Be creative! Good places to get items for costumes: Borrow from a friend look in your closet goodwill Montana rescue mission Ross Be creative! Do the best you can! Cowpokes: Western clothing – jeans, button up type shirt, boots, belt/buckle, hat, vest, ​ kerchief, chaps (no spurs please) - you also have a stick horse!! (We are trying to herd some ​ ​ up!! If you have one – we would love to borrow) Native Americans: leather outfit with beads, feathers (can substitute khaki, brown clothes for ​ leather) Wagon Train /Pioneers: Western type clothing like cowpokes – can also wear suspenders, ​ any type of old fashioned hat. Girls wear long skirts (jean or flowery), blouse type shirts, boots, hats (bonnet type or cowboy) Railroad Workers: Worn jeans, button up type shirt, suspenders. If you have any type of ​ plastic toy tool – hammer, pick – you could bring that too. Trappers: leather outfit or jeans with flannel type shirt with furs, vest ​ Miners – Worn jeans, boots, dirty shirts (like in a coal mine) Hardhats, headlamps ​ James Marshall: Same as RR Worker ​ John Soule: Newspaper Editor – Nice clothes – dress pants, vest or suspenders ​ Wagon Master – same as cowpokes ​ Hank - same as pioneers/cowpokes ​ Robert Fulton Steamboat Captain, First Mate- Nice clothes; dress pants or long skirts, ​ vest/suspenders,– Sailor type hat Mr Henry – Same as RR Workers ​ Bringham Young – same as pioneers/wagon train ​ Yellow Rose – fancy dress – parasol – fancy hat ​ Tex – same as pioneers/wagon train ​ Mayor – long skirt & blouse – similar to wagon train/pioneers ​ Peter Cooper – railroad man – owner – dress pants, suit jacket, hat ​ Townspeople – similar to wagon train/pioneer – can dress for specific type of townsperson ​ (shop owner, barber, stable owner) Horse Owner – like a cowpoke ​ Announcers – like a wagon train/pioneer ​ Farmer – jeans, button up shirt, suspenders/vest, hat – plastic working tools ​ Sailor – something like a pioneer ​ Mountain Woman/Man – like the trappers ​.
