This guide will provide you with information on what to expect during the interview process, best practices and how to find the Ciena office. Interview Competency-based interview: during your interview you will be asked questions about past scenarios or challenges you faced, and we will explore how you handled them. Come prepared with several recent scenarios to share during your interview. For example: • Tell me about a time when you worked on multiple projects and how did you prioritize? • Give me an example when you went above and beyond what was expected. • Give me an example of a time when you were able to influence and motivate others. • Tell me about a time when you didn’t meet a goal and how you handled it. What we are looking for: be prepared to answer the questions by providing the specific situation, task, action and the result. We are looking for answers that have a beginning, middle and end. You can follow the STAR method to respond to competency-based interview questions. • Situation: describe the scenario. Be sure to include as many details as possible, for example: who was working with you, deadlines, job, and any additional information that will help the interviewers understand. • Task: describe what you were hoping to achieve. • Action: describe the actions you took to complete the task or project. Be sure to focus on what you were contributing to the task. • Result: describe what was the outcome and lessons learned and how this impacted the team or company. How to prepare: • Think of scenarios in advance that you can share during the interview. • Review Ciena’s principles and learn more about the company and highlight during your interview how your previous work experience aligns with Ciena. • When answering questions, be sure to stay focused on the question asked and provide concrete, specific answers. • Follow the STAR method to ensure you are providing complete and specific answers. It’s important that you let your Recruiter know you’ll need access to the parking space so our receptionist can request the access for you prior to your arrival at the campus. Coming by public transportation or airport The easiest way to get to our offices from the airport is by taxi or Uber. Please consider the campus is far from the airport and traffic jams in Guadalajara in peak hours (9 AM or 6 PM) might affect your travels.
