Chay-Baghaat About Kumaon Himalayas: A west-central section of the Himalayas in northern India, Baijnath Temple extending 200 miles (320 km) from the Sutlej River east to the Kali River. The range, Almora comprising part of the Siwalik Range in the south and part of the Great Himalayas in the Jageshwar Dham north, lies largely within the state of Uttarakhand, northwest of Nepal. It rises to 25,646 feet (7,817 metres) at Nanda Devi, the range’s highest peak, and to 25,446 feet (7,756 metres) Nainital at Kamet, near the Chinese border. At elevations above 14,000 feet (4,300 metres), snow Tibetan Market covers the mountains throughout the year. Glaciers and snowmelt feed the headstreams of Naini Lake the Ganges River in torrents that rush through gorges and steep-sided ravines. Delhi I T I N E R A R Y Bahai Temple Chandni Chowk Day 01: SINGAPORE - DELHI - CORBETT 257km, 7 hours LD Arrive in Delhi. Upon arrival, you will meet with your Odyssey Manager and head for lunch. After lunch, you will be driven to Corbett. Check into your hotel and retire for the evening. Day 02: CORBETT NATIONAL PARK BLD Enjoy a day exploring the flora and fauna in and around Corbett with 4X4 jeep rides into the different zones of the park in the morning. Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India and was named for the hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett who played a key role in its establishment. The park was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park. The increase in tourist activities, among other problems, continues to present a serious challenge to the park's ecological balance, which has been a haunt for tourists and wildlife lovers. Tourism activity is only allowed in selected areas of Corbett Tiger so that people get an opportunity to see its splendid landscape. Day 03: CORBETT - KAUSANI 160 Km, 5 hours drive BLD After breakfast, leave for Kausani, described as 'Mini-Switzerland of India' by Mahatama Gandhi. Kausani is a small town situated at the height of 1890 meters, nestling amongst thick, dense pine forests, atop a narrow ridge and separated from the towering mountains of Nanda Devi range. The place is well known for its ethereal sunrise and a 320 km wide view of Himalayan range. Eulogised by poets and philosophers, this scenic and beautiful spot offers so much all year round-sightseeing, history, sport, pilgrimage and complete relaxation. Visit Anashkati Ashram, where Mahatma Gandhi stayed and practised the Anasakti Yoga for two weeks. The historical site is a wonderful location, not just to take a glimpse into Gandhi’s life through the rare photograph collections, but also to view the Himalayas as one can see Trishul and Nandadevi peak from here. The scenery is especially beautiful at dawn and dusk. We will also visit Chay-Baghaat – the tea-garden in this district. Enjoy a sunset over the 350 km of Himalayan ranges. Night stay at Kausani with panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges. Day 04: KAUSANI – ALMORA 90km , 3.5 hours drive BLD In the morning, drive to the Baijnath Temple in Kausani, built around the 12th century, likely by the Kumaon Katyuri king of that time. The temple is the highly significant as it is believed that Lord Shiva an Parati married at the confluence of River Gomati and Garur Ganga nearby and there are many other religious stories surrounding it. The temple also has beautiful architecture and an artificial lake which allows for fish feeding. Immerse in the rich traditions and heritage of the beautiful temple. Then, continue your journey towards Almora – widely considered to be the cultural heart of the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Day 05:ALMORA – NAINITAL 63km, 2 hours drive BLD In the morning, visit Jageshwar Dham, a Hindu pilgrimage town in Almora district, to view the not-to-be-missed cluster of historical temples dating back to 9th to 13th century AD. It is a photographer's delight and a place rich with culture. After lunch, you will be driven to Nainital. Enjoy the view of the mountainous backdrop on the way there. Once at Nainital, enjoy some shopping at the Tibetan Market along the beautiful Naini Lake, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the natural freshwater body, Naini Lake. Day 06: NAINITAL EXPLORATION DAY BLD The day to explore Nainital, which name derives from the Goddess Naina Devi. The Naina Devi temple is located at one shore of the lake called Mallital (upper end). The other places of interests are St. John in the Wilderness, High altitude Zoo, Raj Bhawan (Governor’s House), Kilbury, Hanuman Garhi, State observatory, Caves garden etc. Free time for shopping in the market in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at your Hotel. Day 07: NAINITAL – DELHI & VISIT AROUND DELHI 300km, 7 hours drive BLD After breakfast, you will be driven back to Delhi. Check into the hotel to freshen up. After fresh up we drive to different markets as per your interest for shopping and own activities. After dinner, transfer to Hotel. Day 08: DELHI – SINGAPORE BL Enjoy a day of free and easy, and spend a day enjoying the variety of attractions that Delhi offers with your Odyssey Manager who shall provide transport and guidance till your departure. Lunch, visiting and itinerary will be planned based on your interest. If required, entrance charges and monument guide shall be paid by you. In the evening, head over to the airport and catch the flight home.
