Pakistan Physiological Society is an adhering Body of International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) and is a member of Federation of the Asian and Oceania Physiological Societies (FAOPS). At the 11th Biennial International Conference of the PPS at Islamabad, the South Asian Association of Physiologists (SAAP) came into being. SAAP has become representative body of the South Asian Physiological Societies and is also holding its Biennial International Conferences. The next Conference (SAPCON-VI) will be held in Pakistan in 2018. Society has been holding its Biennial Conferences all over Pakistan, providing an excellent platform to young researchers for presenting their original research work. Some of these conferences have been attended by foreign scholars too. It was a moment of great pride for me to be the host of 15th Biennial International Conference of Pakistan Physiological Society at Sahiwal Medical College in February 2017, where more than 700 national and international delegates participated and more than 100 research paper presentations were made. The next Biennial Conference of the PPS (PPS-16) will, In Sha Allah, be held at AJK Medical College, Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu & Kashmir on 5-7 September 2018. As a community of Physiologists, we have to enforce that our Physiologist should be sound in knowledge, an excellent orator cum teacher and a clinically oriented researcher so that the subject of Physiology truly serves as the basis of Medicine. As a Physiologist, we should try and explain various complex physiological events taking place to maintain healthy conditions. Notwithstanding above, basic or fundamental research in Physiology remains the star attraction for many of us and I fully endorse it. I also would request all the Senior Professors to promote this aspect among young Physiologists. It is essentially required for the growth of the specialty of Physiology. I take it as an opportunity and challenge to do those things which can bring respect and honor to the Physiologists when they interact and collaborate with each other. I foresee brilliant future for young physiologists of Pakistan and hope that they will continue to serve their country with unmatched dedication and hard work in the field of teaching, training, research and application of new advancements in the field of Physiology. May Almighty Allah bless you in your future endeavors!
