As Jimmy Buffet will tell you, “We don’t get there often enough, so far and yet so near,” but it certainly feels like a special kind of medicine when we return to Annapolis for the annual Columbus Day gathering of sailors from around the world. What started as a dream by local sailing guru, Jerry Wood in 1970 has endured for 50 years and has developed into one of the most iconic sailing events of the year.
