Fasting has been made obligatory upon you, like it was made obligatory upon those before you, that you may attain piety. Fasting and children When the children are capable of fasting, ask them to observe fast. When the children fast for the first time, encourage them. Prepare such an eective schedule for your fasting children that it includes time for worship, rest and other activities as well. However, keep them away from playing a lot like a normal day, else it will be quite dicult for them to keep patient until Iftar. The children who are not observing fast due to their lower age, ask them to avoid eating in public to respect Ramadan. Tell your children the excellence of Ramadan and explain the rulings of fasting in an easy way keeping their age in mind. The book of Ameer-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat, ‘Faizan-e-Ramadan’ is very useful in this regard. Tell your children that fasting does not only imply staying hungry and thirsty, it rather refers to refraining from all such acts that Allah Almighty dislikes, i.e. abusing, watching films, getting angry, telling a lie, backbiting and other similar deeds. Tell your children about the history of fasting that fasting is a very old act of worship. Fasting was made and all the Ummahs after him. Fasting was made obligatory on ﹷﻋ ْـﻠﹷﻴـهﹻ اﻟـﺴـﻼﹷ م obligatory upon Sayyiduna Adam 10 Sha’ban, 2 Hijri. Tell your children that the purpose of fasting is to attain piety and abstinence. ﹷد ﹷاﻣ ْﺖ ﺑﹷ ﹷﺮﹷﺎﺗﹹ ﹹه ﹹﻢ ْاﻟ ﹷﻌﺎﻟﹻﹷﻴه Ameer-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat, Maulana Ilyas Qadri By the grace of Almighty Allah, since beginning, my mother ( ) had ﹷر ْﺣ ﹷﻤ ﹹﺔ اﷲﹻ ﹷ ﹷﻌﺎ ٰ ﹷﻋ ْﻠﹷﻴ ﹷهﺎ a mindset to perform and have us to perform the obligatory and Wajib acts. Message from Ather Ali Attari Member of Central Advisory Council, Dawat-e-Islami Widespread evils in society, especially committing sins due to social media have increased the responsibilities of good educational institutions. From the platform of Dar-u-Madinah, we are trying our best to provide the students with such a pure environment that they can get a blend of both contemporary and Islamic education. These children are our future and their good upbringing and education can make our world and hereafter better. I request all the parents and guardians that they should give time to their children. Children have an impact of your personality, habits and manners either consciously or unconsciously. For the betterment of your world and hereafter and good upbringing and education of your children, associate yourself with the environment of Dawat-e-Islami. Ramadan is coming. Along with worshipping, get Islamic knowledge. Think for yourself and tell your family members about the harms of channels broadcasting sinful programmes and social media. Keep watching Madani Channel at your home. May Almighty Allah give us strength to save our children from sins and give them the best education for the betterment of our world and hereafter. How to spend Ramadan? 1. Ramadan is the month of Almighty Allah. Special blessings come down in this blessed month. Therefore, we should do the Zikr of Almighty Allah abundantly, recite Durood-o-Salaam and keep repenting for our sins. 2. Perform Tahajjud prayers at the time of Sehri and tell your children the excellence of performing Tahajjud prayers from the book ‘Madani Treasure of Blessings’ published by Maktaba-tul-Madinah. 3. Help your children memorise the prayers of fasting, Iftar and the Night of Qadr. 4. While taking Sehri and Iftari, make your children sit with you and ask them to recite the prayers. 5. Make it a routine to watch Madani Channel at your home. Note the timings of children’s broadcasts on Madani Channel and make special arrangements for them to watch the programmes. Arrange for your children to listen to Hamd, Naat and Manqabat on Madani Channel and Social Media Pages of Dawat-e-Islami. It will increase their passion to spend money in the path of Almighty Allah. 11.
