Volume: 9.8 cu.ft. 49 boxes, Location: Room 515, Arrangement: Chronological Scope: Photographs in this series show all aspects of student life at Suffolk University. They cover student clubs and organizations, dances, award ceremonies, theatre and drama club productions, students in classrooms and libraries and concerts or speakers geared specifically to students. Photographs that focus on University events are located in SUJ/004.04. If folders include negatives, press releases or other items that information is noted. It is important to know that many people worked on arranging and caring for these photos; because of this, much of the original information associated with the photographs may have been lost. Every effort has been made to create folder titles and dates that accurately represent the contents and the event depicted. However, it is possible that the folder title and date do not match the event and photos in the folder. A general example of this is folders with the designation “Guest Speaker.” Because these folders typically contain headshots of an individual or show someone speaking in front of a crowd, they were titled “Guest Speaker” whether or not it was that type of event. A specific example of this is the folder “Pie Throwing Contest, c. 1970s.” No event information came with these photos and they were marked “no date” but because all photos showed someone having pies thrown at them sometime in the 1970s, a folder title was created to give it a description that was as accurate as possible. In many cases complete descriptions of the events here are not available but information may be pieced together from various sources such as The Beacon Yearbook (SUH/005.01), The Suffolk Journal (SUH/001.001) or other places within the Records of the University.
