The accommodation list is provided as a guide only and information and prices are subject to change. Accommodation is subject to availability and prices may change without notice. Please contact the accommodation directly for an accurate quote, and any concerns with the facilities should be discussed and resolved with the accommodation provider. Getting to the Hospital City Campus As of February 2018, Grattan Street will be closed to traffic between Royal Parade and Leicester Street Public transport For info about public transport, call Public Transport Victoria 1800 800 007 or www.ptv.vic.gov.au and www.ptv.vic.gov.au/getting-around/network-changes/parkville From Flinders Street station: Trams number 19 (North Coburg) along Elizabeth Street to stop 10 number 59 (Airport West) along Elizabeth Street to stop 14 From Flagstaff station: Trams number 58 (West Coburg) tram along William Street to stop 14 From North Melbourne Station: Bus 401 stops outside the hospital on Grattan Street From Footscray Station: Bus 402 & 403 stop outside the hospital on Grattan Street • Bus routes 401, 402, 403, 505 and 546 will be re-routed to bypass Grattan Street between Royal Parade and Leicester Street For passengers with hearing difficulties there is a TTY service available. Call (03) 9619 2727 There is a taxi rank located directly outside the main entrance on Grattan Street. There is a disability access ramp at the Emergency side of the front entrance. Parking Street parking is metered Monday through to Saturday afternoon; please consult signs for details. Street parking will be reduced due to construction works for the metro tunnel. Parking is available in Greenco Car Park. The entrance of the hospitals underground car park is on Royal Parade. For information about fees and car parking spaces you can telephone (03) 9342 7719. Pensioner, long stay and multiple day visit concessions are available. A Concessional Parking form is available from clinics and wards. There are reserved disabled parking bays in the car park. You can use the drop off point near the car park cashiers window on level 2 of the car park. Wheelchairs can be borrowed from the volunteer’s desk in the hospitals central lift foyer. 2 Limited parking spots are available for people with a disabled parking permit outside the main entrance in Grattan Street. There is a transit lounge on ground floor of the hospital, where you can wait for transportation to home. The lounge is open from 7.30am to 6:30pm weekdays and closed public holiday. There is an entry off Grattan Street, outside the transit lounge, with free twenty minute parking, between the main entrance and the Emergency department entrance. Telephone (03) 9342 7296. Royal Park campus Reception and front desk are located in the main entrance of the Robert Campbell Wing, Building 17, adjacent to the car park. A receptionist is on duty from 7:30am to 8:00pm on Mondays to Fridays; and from 10:00am to 6:00pm on weekends and public holidays. Reception staff can assist you with any questions about the location of services and patients. If the information desk is unattended, please use the information phone just inside the entrance; next to the taxi telephone. Volunteers are available by contacting the volunteer information desk on (03) 9342 7259. Getting there Train - Upfield train line to Royal Park station, then walk 200 meters along Poplar Road to main entrance (gate 1) Tram 58 - (Domain Interchange – West Coburg) to stop 26 (Royal Park Station/ Poplar Road) or stop 28 (Park Street) There is a 5 to 10 minute walk to the hospital facilities from the tram and train stops Parking Enter at main entrance, gate 1 in poplar Road. This is the public car park entrance as well as the main entrance. Daily parking fee is $9.00 applies to all cars. There is no hourly rate. There is a ticket machine at the exit that accepts credit card or coins, and exact change is required. Please note that cars parked illegally are likely to receive a fine. Parking is free at RMH Royal Park campus for cars displaying a disabled permit and parked in the marked disabled parking spaces. Information can be found on the Department of Health websites corresponding to the state in which you live. A number of them are listed below. All forms MUST be signed by a health care provider prior to departure. Victoria - Victorian Patient travel assistance scheme (VPTAS) • Residents of Victoria who have to travel and stay a long distance to receive essential medical specialist services from an approved medical specialist are eligible to claim through VPTAS. • Patients need to travel more than 100 kilometres one way, or an average of 500 kilometres per week,for one week or more and must live in a rural zone (Department of Health & Human Services designated rural health area) • Have to be receiving specialist treatment claimable under Medicare. Allied health is not one of these claimable services (e.g. physiotherapy, podiatry) • Patients who do not hold a Concession Card or Health Care Card must pay the first $100 per annum of services, and then claim the remainder. More information including application forms can be found at www2.health.vic.gov.au/hospitals-and-health-services/rural-health/vptas-how-to-apply New South Wales - Isolated patient’s travel and accommodation assistance scheme (IPTAAS) • Must be a permanent resident of NSW or Lord Howe Island, and • live more than 100 kilometres away from the nearest treating specialist or when combined trips to and from the specialists exceeds 200km/week • Receive treatment that is claimable under Medicare from recognised medical specialist • Have claimed the maximum available benefits from your private health fund firStreet • Not to be eligible for assistance under any other government assistance scheme • There are specific terms and conditions relating to the transport for health in the New South Wales. See the application form for details. Tasmania - Patient Travel Assistance Scheme (PTAS) • Must be a Tasmanian resident • Receive treatment that is claimable under Medicare from a recognised medical specialist and are not entitled to financial assistance through any other scheme. Have a PTAS form signed by an approved medical specialist, oral/maxillofacial surgeon or rural GP. • Financial assistance is available towards air/sea and road travel, and accommodation (where applicable) expenses. Your local PTAS Coordinator can pre-book your travel and accommodation prior to departure; or you can organise your own travel and/or accommodation and claim reimbursement on your return home from the specialist treatment. 5 • You and your escort are required to meet any accommodation costs above the reimbursement. Non- concession card holders are required to pay the first 2 nights of accommodation. • Health care card or pension card holders are required to contribute towards the cost of each return journey. Non- card holders are required to contribute $82.50 towards the cost of each return journey • Travel - In one financial year the maximum contribution for a card holder is $132, and for a non-card holder it is $330.
