Elementary Promotion Friday March 17th A to Z Salad Bar On Friday March 17th, 2017 our elementary students will enjoy our A to Z salad bar. The A to Z salad bar focuses on nutrition awareness featuring a giant salad bar includ- Paid Student: $2.00 ing fruits and vegetables beginning with the letters of the Reduced $.40 alphabet. We will focus on the benefits of eating fruits and Free $0.00 vegetables, while introducing children to some new varie- Adult $3.00 ties of produce. The event includes a self-service salad bar and either mini ham and cheese slider sandwiches, crispy chicken wrap or peanut butter and jelly sandwich. All student are also able to choose our homemade chicken noodle soup. If you have any questions please contact the food service department. We hope your students will en- joy our fun event. Fresh apples float because they are 25%air. CARROTS Carrots are the leading source of Vitamin A, which helps keep your eyes healthy. Carrots weren’t always orange. They were originally red, black, yellow, purple, and white in color. Carrots are members of the parsley family JICAMA Jicama is sometimes called a Mexican potato. Jicama is very crisp and has an apple-like flavor. Jicama is a good source of Vitamin C. KIWI Kiwi is an excellent source of Vitamins C and E, fiber and potassium. There are over 400 varieties of kiwi fruit. Kiwi fruit is named after the national bird of New Zealand, the “Kiwi.” XTRA FANCY STAR FRUIT When cut, star fruit has a 5-pointed star shape. Star fruit is high in Vitamin C and fiber. Star fruit doesn’t need to be peeled or seeded before it’s eaten. ZUCCHINI 100% of zucchini can be eaten either raw or cooked.
