I Mammals of Banke National Park and Buffer Zone Foreword Banke National Park (BaNP) was established in 2010 AD as a gift to the earth. BaNP has the historical significance of harboring great biodiversity. The Park makes the trans-boundary linkage with the Suhelwa Wildlife Sanctuary in India through Kamdi Forest Corridor and Rapti River Corridor. In addition, the park is linked with Bardia National Park towards West. It is thus well recognized as one of the priority tiger conservation landscapes. As stated by the Banke National Park and Buffer Zone Management Plan (2018 – 2022), a total of 34 mammal species are reported from the park. After the establishment of the park, regular monitoring of tigers and prey base are being carried out through camera trapping survey. The survey showed a rise in tiger population over the years. Recent monitoring results of 2018 reported a total of 21 breeding individual tigers indicating good efforts for tiger conservation in a newly declared protected area within a short span of time. Likewise, out of 34 species mammals reported from the park, 32 species were captured during camera trapping survey. This publication consists of repeatedly observed mammal species of BaNP based on camera trapping survey conducted in BaNP and associated landscapes.
