St. Michael's CE (VA) Junior School Newsletter by Mrs Rumsey

St. Michael’s CE (VA) Junior School Newsletter by Mrs Rumsey Friday, 5th July 2019 Dear Parents/Carers, The school choir performed 2 concerts at the weekend. One on Friday night at Anglia Ruskin University and one at the North Avenue Christian Centre in aid of Christian Aid. In both concerts the children were brilliant in both their performance and behaviour. We received an E mail from a member of the audience, it reads:- I was in the audience at the concert on Friday evening and just wanted to say that it was a wonderful performance by your choir - you must be very proud of them. A lot of hard work and enthusiasm had obviously gone into their singing I would also like to compliment them on their behaviour when they sat aside while the Anglia Singers performed. - A great credit to your school. I think that says it all. Enormous thanks to our wonderful parents who have been supporting the choir this year as we have performed across Chelmsford. You have been brilliant and I couldn’t have done all these events without your support. 1 On Thursday, 27th June, six Year fives went to Great Baddow High School to participate in a Spelling Bee competition. We came 1st and won by 1 point. At the presentation ceremony, we got gold medals. Thanks go to Mr. Leeding for driving the minibus, Miss Newman for taking us and Mrs. Orton for organising and teaching us. Report written by Max L. and Olivia Me. in 5O. Please can we have all sports kits returned to school. Please ensure they have been washed! Can all the choir ties be returned to school please? We seem to have a tie-eating monster in our midst! Music Lessons My name is Helen Sismey and I have been coming to St Michael’s for 5 years to teach flute and clarinet. If your child is interested in having lessons, please contact me on 01245 496502 or [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you. They have all been to their new schools as part of the induction programmes that are run by the secondary schools. Sports Day On Tuesday afternoon a glorious summer’s day greeted our Sports Day; the Sportsmanship Pledge was read out by Erin and Archie and there were awards for all the field events that had taken place last week. All the children took part in sprints, relays and long distance. There was a lovely atmosphere and lots of parents came and enjoyed lunch on the school field with their children. The results were as follows: 4th place – St. George – 460 points 3rd place – St. Andrew – 467 points 2nd place – St. David – 477 points 1st place – St. Patrick – 608 points Congratulations St. Patrick on a brilliant win. Achievers’ Assemblies Could we politely remind parents that they must leave the school staright away after Achievers’ assemblies and not visit their child’s classroom. This is a serious breach of our safeguarding policy. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Amazon Wish List Thank you to all our anonymous donors for our gifts this week. It really does help. You can use the following link in your browser to access our wish list and then log in http://amzn.eu/iIEmThI . Every gift is important to us no matter how large or small. Well done children. 4 ParentPay balances – Year 6 Parents Please can you ensure that any dinner money balances are cleared before the end of term. If you are in credit and you have a sibling at the school, unless we here otherwise, we will assume that you would like any balance transferred to the younger child. If you are in credit and you will no longer have a child at this school in September, your balance will be refunded over the summer break. ParentPay Trips and Music Lessons Please can you check your ParentPay for any outstanding payments for music lessons or residential trips. The school has severely limited resources to fund non-payers and each trip is costed based on the number of children attending a residential or having a music lesson. Any non- payers who are not eligible to be covered by our Pupil Premium grant have to be funded from the school’s curriculum budget reducing what we are able to spend on school resources. Thank you.
