For any student who is planning on taking a WANIC course that is offered outside of the district, registration will begin February 2. Please log on to the WANIC website and register for the class you are interested in. WANIC provides EMT/Firefighting, DigiPen, Medical Careers, Dental, plus others. Remember, this is ONLY for those programs offered outside of our district. These three-hour programs are available to all students within the Bellevue School District. Bellevue’s 3-hour WANIC Skill Center programs are: • Automotive Technology 1 and 2 – Bellevue High • CISCO Networking Academy – CCNA – Newport High • CISCO – CCNP – Newport High • Culinary Arts and Advanced Culinary Arts – Newport High • Health Careers – Sammamish High • Building Industries Technology – Core Plus Construction – Interlake High NEW PROGRAM HIGH SCHOOL AND BEYOND PLAN – DON’T FORGET TO GET THIS DONE! The High School and Beyond Plan is a state mandated requirement for all students in Washington. In order to graduate, specific activities must be completed prior to graduation. The counseling staff and the College and Career Advisors will or have contacted students regarding these requirements during workshops and class meetings. The activities are primarily self-driven and can be completed at home. Students will log onto Naviance to get access to these activities! Juniors: • Resume • The Graduation Pathway Survey NTV STUDENTS UP FOR NATIONAL STUDENT EMMY AWARDS The Advanced Digital Media class has been busy learning new material, but after school they are all actively involved in the NTV Club, with advisor and teacher, Steven Hamada. Three groups of students, from the class and club, won the Regional Student Emmy Awards this last month. All three groups made it to the finals and earned the National Emmy Nomination. The ceremony and awards announcement will be sometime in early February. This is the first time that Newport’s program has received such an honor. The colleges that are part of our consortium and serve Bellevue School District students are Bellevue College, Cascadia, Shoreline, Lake Washington Institute of Technology, Renton Technical College, and Edmonds College. These colleges review our curriculum and our state approved frameworks. Once approved by the college program, they issue college credit at a reduced cost. This year the cost is $50.00 for an entire year of classes, as many as you can take from the list below! Students can earn college credit while taking classes at their high school but must maintain a “B” or better grade to qualify.
