SECOND RACE WIN IN A ROW FOR JOHN FORCE; NO. 145 FOR HIS CAREER John Force drove his Realtree/PEAK Antifreeze & Coolant 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS to a No. 6 qualifying position with a 3.890 second run at 329.10 mph in the fourth and final qualifying session. He picked up two additional bonus points for his team by making the second quickest pass of Q4. On race day, Force dismissed Alexis DeJoria in the opening round, followed by his teammate Robert Hight in the second round. In the semifinals, he matched up with Courtney Force and got the win, sending him to a tough final round match-up with Ron Capps. Force got the starting line advantage and turned on the win light next to Capps with a 3.948 at 324.59 mph to Capps’ 3.960 at 320.13 mph. He picked up a total of three qualifying bonus points for making the third-quickest pass of Q2 and the second-quickest pass of Q3. On race day, Hight dismissed Jeff Diehl in the opening round with an impressive 3.909 ET at 326.32 mph. The run was a tie of the quickest pass in the first elimination round. Hight then matched up with owner of John Force Racing and eventual race winner, John Force. Despite out-qualifying the 16-time champion, Hight posted a 3.939 ET at 317.64 mph to Force’s winning 3.927 ET at 324.36 mph. She picked up a total of nine additional qualifying bonus points for making the 3rd quickest run of Q1, 2nd quickest of Q2, and quickest runs of both Q3 and Q4. On race day she beat Gary Densham in the opening round and Chad Head in the second round, which left her in a re-match from the previous week with her dad and 16-time champion John Force. Courtney’s Traxxas Chevy made an uncharacteristic move and dropped a cylinder at the hit. She ran the race one cylinder down and managed to run a 4.07, but wasn’t able to get the win. She picked up one bonus point for making the third-quickest pass of Q4 on Saturday. On race day. Force had lane choice, lined up beside TJ Zizzo and got the win with a 3.762 ET at 325.45 mph. She was then ready to race Doug Kalitta in the quarterfinals. Brittany left the starting line second of the two drivers and despite making the better run with a 3.743, lost the chance at making a semi-finals appearance. She was able to hold onto the No. 4 position in the NHRA point standings leaving Sonoma.
