Darcey Steinke is the author of Sister Golden Hair, chosen by Flavorwire as one of the Best Independent Fiction and Poetry Books of 2014. Her other novels include Milk (2005); Jesus Saves (1997); Suicide Blonde (1992); and Up Through the Water (1989), a New York Times Notable Book. Her memoir Easter Everywhere (2007) was also named a New York Times Notable Book. Along with Rick Moody, she edited Joyful Noise: The New Testament Revisited (1997), a collection of essays offering personal interpretations of modern Christianity. Her books have been translated into ten languages, and her nonfiction has appeared inThe New York Times Magazine, The Boston Review, Vogue, Spin Magazine, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, and The Guardian. Her web story “Blindspot” was included as part of the 2000 Whitney Biennial. She has been both a Henry Hoyns and a Stegner Fellow, and she was also a Writer- in-Residence at the University of Mississippi. Steinke has taught creative writing at the Columbia University School of the Arts, Barnard, The American University of Paris, Photo by Jenny Gorman by Photo and at Princeton University.
