Pysanky in Plummer Park—The City of West Hollywood, in partnership with the Craft and Folk Art Museum bring pysanky, painted Ukrainian eggs, to Plummer Park as part of a region-wide installation of folk and craft objects titled Folk Art Everywhere. On Route – 66 Lights—In celebration of its 25th Anniversary of Cityhood, West Hollywood celebrates its pre-Cityhood history with a display of vintage neon signs from old Route 66. The City of West Hollywood in collaboration with the Museum of Neon Art presents On Route – 66 Lights. In addition to a display of four large-scale classic neon lights in the City center, a brochure will also be available, providing a tour of other vintage and contemporary neon in the City, as well as providing a brief look at neon, and the City’s historic association with Route 66 (Santa Monica Boulevard) and the Sunset Strip. Call for Posters June 1, 2010—The Center for the Study of Political Graphics (CSPG) is creating a new dynamic political poster exhibition documenting the ongoing struggles, and celebrating the victories of the local, national and international Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities. Out of the Closet and Into the Street will premiere, July 3, 2010, in West Hollywood at the ONE Archives Gallery & Museum in conjunction with West Hollywood’s 25th Anniversary Celebration. Assist CSPG staff in curating the most comprehensive contemporary exhibition possible by donating LGBT related posters, new and old. Donated posters will be considered for the upcoming exhibition and become part of CSPG’s unique archive that we are making accessible to students, activists, and artists around the world.
