Position: Director, Business Operations, Edmonton Professional Basketball Club Reports to: President & COO, Western Operations Location: Edmonton, AB Job Type: Full-time About the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) The CEBL is a domestic professional basketball league with teams located across Canada. The CEBL will provide sports fans with a premium entertainment option while also allowing players, coaches and other stakeholders the opportunity to engage in the sport of basketball at the highest level. The CEBL will operate in accordance with the player and referee standards set by Canada Basketball, the National Sporting Organization for the sport of Basketball in Canada. The league will proudly adhere to the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) rules and regulations. The Canadian Elite Basketball League is looking for a qualified self-starter, with management experience, to act as the President for the CEBL’s Edmonton territory. The successful candidate must have a passion for sports, and should be looking to impact the community in which they work. Responsibilities (Included but not limited to): • Responsible for training, recruiting and motivating other members of the team to drive effective and efficient operations • Oversee the day-to-day operation of all departments including but not limited to; ticketing, public relations/marketing, game day management, and partnership sales • Ensure the organization is managing an efficient line of communication with the team’s venue and its operators • Serve as a main contact for the region’s media outlets • Create and foster a creative and hospitable work environment for all team employees • Build long lasting relationships within the community to ensure that the team is establishing roots in the region • Foster creativity amongst the team’s employees • Liaise with the President & COO, Western Operations to ensure that the team is meeting the league’s minimum standards, and sales targets set for the Edmonton market • Assist in managing the team’s organizational budget, and maintain the appropriate distribution of funds to their necessary categories EDMONTON STINGERS OF THE CANADIAN ELITE BASKETBALL LEAGUE THESTINGERS.CA · EDMONTON, ALBERTA . #HOLDCOURT Qualifications: • Bachelor Degree in sport management, business, event management or in a related field • Strong local ties to the Edmonton market, and existing relationships with local stakeholders • Must have at least 5 years sport administration (Marketing, Sponsorship, Event Management), or business management experience • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience, strong relationship building and management skills • Valid Driver’s License • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications Required Skills: • Relevant experience in a leadership capacity within the sport industry • Experience working in a fast-paced environment • Excellent time management skills • Strong written, and verbal communication skills • A good public speaker with a willingness to engage with local media • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure while also overseeing the tasks of the other employees Availability: • Monday-Friday with additional “non-traditional” hours as required Compensation: • Competitive base salary, plus bonus structure based on organization’s fiscal performance • Please indicate salary expectations within your cover letter Other Requirements: • Applicants can forward their application (cover letter and resume) and salary expectations to [email protected] with the subject line, “Director, Business Operations, Edmonton Professional Basketball Club” We thank all applicants, however only those who are selected for an interview will be contacted.
