The number of 193 CLEWs selected from each union of the ten intervened districts; a batch of 97 CLEWs is enrolled in the training; where these trainees are being capacitated on livestock management practices and LS extension services. For the reason, RSPN / ACF in collaboration with Implementing RSPs has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and prepared terms of references (ToRs). Trained CLEWs and Government Livestock Extension workers will be made members of LSOs livestock committee and CLEWs will provide all types of services and disseminate information through VOs and COs among community members about fee to be charged by extension workers for services as per outreach schedule submitted to LSO and will also conduct fortnightly session at FFS with group of 15 – 20 community members having livestock and provide information about livestock management, need for vaccination and drenching, proper management of animal dung for preparation of manure and measures to be adopted to mitigate negative impact on climate caused by animals and breed improvements through artificial insemination. 5 About Research and Training Institute (RTI) for Livestock Development Research and training institute was established in 1990-1991. The institute is located in Tando Mohammad Khan at the distance of 16 km from T. M. Khan city, on Sujawal road. The basic aim of establishment of this institution was to collect basic information regarding livestock in rural Sindh and conduct problem oriented research. The research then should be applied by organizing different training programs for livestock farmers as well as Veterinary Doctors for their capacity building and skill enhancement. Training programs are organized in such a manner that the farmers can be introduced to modern scientific technologies to improve the worth of their animals and get more profit from them. The institute also works in collaboration with Government and non-Government organizations to organize different types of trainings. Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program (BBSYDP), Livestock and Fisheries Department, Government of Sindh, NRSP, HDF, THDP, RDF, Engro Foundation, UNDP, FAO, HDF, PDI, ACTED, IRC, Islamic Relief Fund and many other organizations were counter part of the Institution in the past. RTI is currently working with BBSYDP and RSPN. Salutation by RTI Head of Department This training session was a collective effort of RSPN, who sponsored the training events and Research & Training Institute, Tando Muhammad Khan have organized and managed training programs. First, we would like to thank all participants for their participation and whole team of RSPN, SRSO, TRDP and NRSP for their facilitation to manage these training events smoothly. Special thanks to Akbar Raza, Project Director PINS and the representative of RSPN for their contribution in organizing these training events. We would like thank Livestock Department, Government of Sindh for valuable contribution and inputs. We highly appreciate efforts of our trainers Dr. Qaisar Abbas Shah, Dr. Sajid Hussain Kaleri, Dr. Mubasher Solangi, Dr. Irfan Ali Memon, Dr. Abdul Manan Khokhar, Dr. Musharaf Ali Malkani, Dr. Rukhsana Vighio and Dr. Nazia Firdos for facilitating “whole of the technical training” with all their capabilities, commitment and keen interest to equip the participants with technical knowledge and skills. Finally yet importantly we would also thank to Dr. Ahtisham ul Haq Rana, Director Animal Husbandry Sindh for his kind efforts in training process and completion successful training. RTI staff and trainers have tried to include all basic contents related to technical training skills in this training but there might be some conceptual gaps in the sessions. RTI will appreciate if anybody could provide feedback on the contents and methodology. RTI is a leading capacity building forum in Pakistan Its aim is to strengthen skills of youth and support their families.
