The naTional Gallery oF ireland The national Gallery of ireland was founded by an act of parliament in 1854 and opened to the public in 1864. it houses some 13,000 items: over 2,500 oil paintings, and 10,000 works in different media including watercolours, drawings, prints and sculpture.
