On 31 May 2011, John Holland Pty Ltd was engaged to construct the BLB2. The berth became operational in December 2013. The main products handled at the BLB are refined fuels, gases and chemicals / other bulk liquids. BLB2 comprise a steel piled pier adjacent to the existing BLB1; associated infrastructure such as marine loading arms, fire fighting equipment, onshore support facilities and pipelines from existing user sites to the new berth. The open access, multi user berth operates on a 24 hour/ 7 day per week basis. BLB2 has been designed to accommodate 120,000 dead weight tonne vessels to a maximum of 270m length overall. Abbotsford Wharf - Abbotsford Eastern City Maritime The upgrade aims to provide easier access to the wharf, Planning Wharf Upgrade District better weather protection, additional seating, improved program safety, quicker and more efficient boarding and disembarking, increased capacity and more efficient interchange with other modes of transport. Key features and benefits of the project are replacing the General Holmes Drive rail level crossing with a road underpass that links General Holmes Drive, Botany Road and Wentworth Avenue to improve the movement of rail freight and improve access to the Airport, Mascot and the eastern suburbs; providing improvements to the Mill Pond Road intersections with General Holmes Drive and Botany Road to support future growth and access to the airport; widening Joyce Drive and General Holmes Drive between O'Riordan Street and Mill Pond Road to three lanes in each direction to improve traffic flow around the airport and to Port Botany; creating a new shared path to link to the existing cycle way on Wentworth Avenue to improve connections for pedestrians and cyclists; and retaining the northbound bus stop on Botany Road close to the existing location to meet community needs. Key features of the upgrade include converting the southern sections of Robey Street and O’Riordan Street into one-way roads; widening O’Riordan Street to provide six through lanes between Bourke Road and Robey Street; reconfiguring the existing traffic lights on O’Riordan Street between Qantas Drive and Bourke Road; and upgrading the footpath on the eastern side of O’Riordan Street. The upgrades will help increase traffic capacity and reduce congestion along O’Riordan Street, and improve access to Sydney Airport domestic terminals. Airport Street Temora Riverina - Murray Walking and Cycling Road Shoulder cycleway alongside Airport Street Completed cycleway Airport West Precinct Arncliffe Eastern City Road Marsh Street, Arncliffe is being widened to three lanes In-Progress District westbound to relieve congestion and improve traffic flow. The project supports and complements upgrades to Sydney Airport’s internal road network. Key features include widening Marsh Street to three lanes westbound between the Giovanni Brunetti Bridge and the M5 interchange, meaning Marsh Street would be three lanes in both directions; providing a dedicated cycleway on the southern side of Marsh Street to connect the existing path on the bridge to the Eve Street cycleway; providing a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Marsh Street and Flora Street; and minor widening of the existing eastbound and westbound lanes to provide wider, safer lanes for motorists. Key benefits include increasing traffic capacity and reduce congestion on Marsh Street for westbound traffic; improving cycle access in the area and increase safety for cyclists; and improving pedestrian access in the area. Albion Park Rail Albion Park Illawarra Road Planning is underway for a future extension of the M1 Planning Bypass - Princes Shoalhaven Princes Motorway between Yallah and Oak Flats to Highway Upgrade provide a bypass of Albion Park Rail. The bypass will complete the 'missing link' for a high standard road between Sydney and Bomaderry.
