Please be aware of the directions below for how to submit scholarships: Scholarships with PRIVATE APPLICATIONS: Scholarships with private applications should be submitted to the address and/or email indicated on its unique application, which can be found in this newsletter and/or on Naviance. Scholarships using the FHS APPLICATION: Scholarships using the FHS application should be emailed to Mrs. Erikson, College & Career Counselor, at [email protected]. Copies of the FHS application can be found on Naviance; the essay topic can be found in the black box at the top of the application. If a scholarship uses an FHS application, it should be submitted to Ms. Erikson on ONE EMAIL that includes the application and the essay as a PDF ATTACHMENT, with the s cholarship name as the subject line. Scholarships with FHS APPLICATION Community Recycling Awards Scholarship (TBD) -- Due April 1, 2021 Awarded to 1 or more seniors with a passion for the environment who will major in Environmental Studies (or a related science) at a 4-year college or university. The application can be found on Naviance ( w ww.naviance.com) or in the College & Career Center. → **FHS scholarship application** Edward F. Convery Memorial Scholarship ($1,500) -- Due April 5, 2021 Open to graduating seniors who will pursue a degree in education, history, or religious studies. Preference given to seniors who will attend a Mass. State college or university and who demonstrate financial need. The application can be found on Naviance ( w ww.naviance.com) or in the College & Career Center. → **FHS scholarship application** Framingham Administrators’ Association Award ($500) -- Due April 5, 2021 Preference given to students with family members in the FAA. The application can be found on Naviance ( w ww.naviance.com) or in the College & Career Center. → **FHS scholarship application** Frank Barbieri Jr. Memorial Scholarship (TBD) -- Due April 5, 2021 Awarded to an FHS senior who plans to be a teacher, preferably of history. Candidates should have demonstrated strong willingness to learn, to help others, and be caring individuals. The application can be found on Naviance ( w ww.naviance.com) or in the College & Career Center. → **FHS scholarship application** Karen Foran Dempsey Scholarship (TBD) -- Due April5, 2021 Born and raised in Framingham, Karen Foran Dempsey spent her entire life advocating for equality for those with disabilities, and most recently served as Districts School Committee Member. She experienced a challenging physical disability from her early years and never let it impede her living life to the fullest, as she used her experience to advocate vigorously for all people to have equal access and equal opportunity. Sadly, Karen died suddenly at the age of 54 on December 24, 2020. The selected student shall be a Framingham High School student with a physical disability who seeks to continue their education after graduation. The application can be found on Naviance ( w ww.naviance.com) or in the College & Career Center. → **FHS scholarship application** Lauren Elizabeth Walsh DuBois Memorial Scholarship ($3,000) -- Due April5, 2021 Lauren Elizabeth Walsh DuBois was a lovely, quiet, smart, young woman who was loved by many. She loved reading, history, cooking and playing World of Warcraft. During her time at FHS, Lauren was an active member of the GSA program. This program was very important to her and she enjoyed being part of a group of students focused on ensuring equal treatment for all. Lauren’s family will proudly award this scholarship to a college-bound, FHS senior student graduating during this school year who participated actively in FHS’ GSA program. The application can be found on Naviance ( w ww.naviance.com) or in the College & Career Center. → **FHS scholarship application** Peter Furlong Vocal Performance Scholarship ($300) -- Due April 5, 2021 A graduating senior with plans to pursue a college degree in vocal performance and demonstrates great aptitude, passion, and drive for a career in music. The application can be found on Naviance ( w ww.naviance.com) or in the College & Career Center. → **FHS scholarship application** Regina Henneberry Scholarship Fund ($1,000) -- Due April 5, 2021 Graduating female student who is going to a 4 year college to major in English with the hopes of pursuing a career in teaching at the high school level. Students must have a B average and submit an essay stating why she feels that she is eligible for this scholarship. The application can be found on Naviance ( w ww.naviance.com) or in the College & Career Center. → **FHS scholarship application** Eurie A. Stamps, Sr. Memorial Scholarship (TBD) -- Due April 15, 2021 This will be a scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior who identifies as a person of color, and who has participated in sports in high school on the Varsity level for two or more years, and who will be attending an accredited two or four year college or a vocational/technical program after graduating from Framingham High School. The student should embody the spirit of Eurie A. Stamps, Sr. by having demonstrated a spirit of giving, community involvement and mentorship, and concern for at-risk students and families. It is intended that this scholarship will be an annual program. The recipient must identify as a student of color and must have participated in social advancement activism for similarly situated students, through participation in non-athletic socially motivated extracurricular activities, such as the Black Student Union, Asian Student Association, Environmental Awareness Club, GSA/Gender and Sexuality Alliance, LEA (Latinas en Acción), Model UN, SIM (Student Immigration Movement) Club, Student Government, or a similar club which considers or involves itself in issues of social/racial equity. The recipient must have participated in varsity sports on the high school level for at least two years in one or more sports. If the recipient is to be a graduate of the Thayer Campus, the above varsity or extracurricular activity criteria may be substituted for the student being considered a Group or Team Leader, or displayed mentoring behavior towards other students. The application can be found on Naviance ( www.naviance.com ) or in the College & Career Center. → **FHS scholarship application** Kerri Chipman Memorial Scholarship (TBD) -- Due April 15, 2021 This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating FHS Senior who has a genuine interest and care for others. This Senior should be a self- motivated, hard-working student with leadership qualities. This award is not limited to a 2 or 4-year educational experience, but the award can also be applied to any post-secondary pathway that enhances the recipients personal growth goals. The application can be found on Naviance ( w ww.naviance.com) or in the College & Career Center. → **Uses ** SPECIAL* * FHS scholarship application on Naviance** Local Scholarships with PRIVATE APPLICATIONS Framingham Teachers Association Education Award (TBD) -- Due March 22, 2021 For a senior who has overcome some personal and/or academic difficulty, and has displayed perseverance in striving to become "the best he or she can be." The amount is to be determined. Parents DO NOT need to be FTA members. This is open to ALL FHS seniors. The application can be found on Naviance ( www.naviance.com ) or in the College & Career Center. → **Private application** The A. James Lavoie Essay Scholarship with Middlesex Bank ($5,000) -- Due March 26, 2021 To be eligible for the A. James Lavoie Scholarship, applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and community involvement. They must also plan to attend a four-year college program, and graduate from one of the many public, charter, or vocational high schools in t he communities we serve . The winner is selected from among eligible applicants by an independent committee on the basis of strength and quality of submitted essays. The application can be found online here: https://www.middlesexbank.com/About/Community-Involvement/Giving-Back/Charitable-Foundation → * *Private, o nline application** Kevin Flynn Doherty Memorial Scholarship (TBD) -- Due March 29, 2021 This scholarship is given in memory of Kevin Flynn Doherty who died in a tragic accident while he was a student at Framingham North High School. Kevin’s mother, Barbara Defino, a teacher at Hemenway Elementary School for over 30 years bequeathed the money for this scholarship when she passed away in 2014. Kevin was a wonderful, caring, young man, who had many friends. He loved the outdoors, including boating, waterskiing, and soccer. The application can be found on Naviance ( www.naviance.com ) or in the College & Career Center. → **Private application** The Rebekah Assembly of MA: Indep. Order of Odd Fellows ($1,000) -- Due March 30, 2021 Awarded to seniors who plan to further their education by attending a two-year or four-year college. Important that all of the following information must accompany this application: 1) statement of needs of a scholarship 2) 1 adult personal letter of reference from outside of school 3) two educational letters of reference 4) academic/scholastic record from your high school 5) personal statement explaining your goals, financial status, members of your family, etc.
