From M4, Junction 18 (Bath/Stroud A46) Leave Motorway at Tormarton Interchange (signposted Stroud/Bath A46), and Wotton is a charming country town, steeped in history, nestled in the southern at roundabout take 2nd exit (signposted Stroud A46). At Petty France, turn left Cotswold Hills, equidistant from Gloucester and Bristol, Cheltenham, Cirencester (signposted Hawkesbury Upton/Hillesley). Follow local signs to Wotton-under- and Bath. Wotton forms part of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Edge. and the Cotswold Way National Trail runs through the town. Walks vary in length, some with 36 long-stay spaces (maximum stay 23 hours) historical interest, one timed to hear the dawn chorus, and one for young families so there should be something to tempt most walkers. It follows a low level route through the National Trust woodland past Bournstream and goes under the Brackenbury Ditches. The route then goes uphill steeply to Nibley Knoll and on to the Tyndale Monument above North Nibley. The return route passes through Westridge Woods following the escarpment edge past the ancient Brackenbury Ditches encampment to Wotton Hill where a fine view can be had. From Wotton Hill the path descends steeply A climb up to Coombe Hill and on to Bowcott Farm, up and over to down to Wotton and return to the car park. Dursley then another up and over to Waterley Bottom. Climb again to Nibley Knoll and on to Wotton Hill.
