In some ways Holy Thursday is like that too. On that day we remember the Last Supper, the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood. Today we take time to think of what the gift of the real presence of Christ means for the Church. We know and believe that Christ is truly present in the Eucharist. We know that when we partake of the Eucharist we are partaking in the divine life of Christ. The great prayer, the central prayer, of the Church is the Mass. It is in the Mass that we recreate the paschal mystery of the Last Supper, Death and Resurrection of the Lord and then share in this mystery by taking the Paschal Lamb within us. Every Mass is a battle for the Kingdom which we participate in through our determination to live the Eucharist we receive, our determination to be Christlike. All the liturgical enhancements to our celebrations are wonderful, but none of them surpass the wonder of Jesus Christ, present in every Eucharist. We have so much to be thankful for. Christ lives among us in the Eucharist and His people. He has given us everything we need to attain everlasting life. Because we have so much to thank God for we ask Him to show us how to make a return to Him… Pastor’s announcements: 1. We welcome Fr. John Sagaya from India. You know him from his previous visits to our parish. The last time he was here was 6 years ago. I’ve heard a lot of good things about him but never had a chance to meet him. He bought a ticket a couple of times in the past to come here, but he had to cancel it because of some other last minute assignments. I bought a ticket to India three years ago to visit Fr. John, but I also had to cancel it when our school was in trouble and we had to work on a campaign. But finally he was able to come and I had a chance to meet him. We wish him well and are happy to have him with us at least for a few days. Please keep him in your prayers. 2.
