FY21 Authorized and Funded LRF Deferred Maintenance Projects Forest or Region State Cong. District Asset Type Project Description Grassland Project Name This project proposes improvements along the Westfork Bike Trail, including the addition of West Fork San Gabriel Accessible Recreation Site, ABA/ADA compliant fishing platforms, minor road maintenance (designated as National Scenic R05 Angeles CA CA-27 Fishing Opportunities Trail, Road Bikeway), striping of picnic area/overflow parking, and signs. An existing agreement with the National Forest Foundation will provide a match. Other partners have submitted grant proposals. This project will complete unfunded items, including the replacement of picnic tables, fencing Recreation Site, R05 Cleveland Renovate Laguna Campground CA CA-50 entrance gates, signage, and infrastructure. The campground renovation project is substantially Trail funded by external agreement. The project is within USDA designated Laguna Recreation Area, This project will enhance equestrian access by improving of traffic flow/control and improving ADA parking to complete campground renovation project including restroom restoration and Recreation Site, decommissioning of old camp spurs, partially funded by external agreements. The Pacific Crest R05 Cleveland Renovate Boulder Oaks Campground CA CA-51 Trail Trail runs through this campground and is a key location for hikers to camp. It is the only equestrian campground located on section A of Pacific Crest Trail. This project is key for threatened and endangered species habitat and cultural site management. This project will repave the access road, conduct site improvements, replace barriers, replace fire Recreation Site, R05 Cleveland Renovate El Cariso Campground CA CA-42 rings and tables, and replace trash receptacles. This project will improve the visitor experience at Road El Cariso Campground. Improve San Diego River Recreation, This project will replace information and directional signs for the San Diego River Recreation R05 Cleveland Public Safety, Interpretive Exhibits and CA CA-50 Recreation Site Area. Additionally, the project will update interpretive exhibits that provide for the education and Information Signs enjoyment for visitors. The project will construct shade structures for public safety. This project will conduct trail deferred maintenance on a section of Noble Canyon National Recreation Trail. Deferred maintenance activities include drainage structure replacement, tread Restore Noble Canyon National repair, rock step replacement, rock wall repair, check dam installation, trench backfill, and sign R05 Cleveland CA CA-50 Trail Recreation Trail and Trailhead repair. The northern trailhead is located within Laguna Mountain Recreation Area and accessed by Sunrise Scenic Byway close to the community of Alpine and serves the greater San Diego community. This project will place new picnic tables at each campsite within 2 campgrounds. This will Renovate Corral Canyon & Bobcat significantly improve the visitor experience and provide the final amenity necessary to change the R05 Cleveland Meadow Off-Highway Vehicle CA CA-51 Recreation Site status of campgrounds to charge a more appropriate fee for use. The campgrounds serve the Campgrounds Corral Canyon/Bear Valley Off-Highway Vehicle Area, the extremely popular and only off-highway vehicle area in San Diego County. Upgrade Recreation Facilities at This project will replace the aging bathroom facilities at Wildomar off-highway vehicle area. This R05 Cleveland CA CA-42 Recreation Site Wildomar Off-Highway Vehicle Area project will improve the recreational of visitor experience. This project will repair the access road, implement site improvements, replace barriers, replace R05 Cleveland Renovate Blue Jay Campground CA CA-45 Recreation Site fire rings, tables, and trash receptacles, and replace toilets. Upgrade Recreation Facilities at This project will replace aging bathroom facilities at Wildomar Campground to improve the visitor R05 Cleveland CA CA-42 Recreation Site Wildomar Campground experience. This project will complete Silver Lake East Campground reconstruction. This project will bring the Silver Lake East Campground Recreation Site, campground into 100% ABA compliance to include spur realignment, resurfacing of road and R05 Eldorado CA CA-04 Reconstruction - Phase 2 Road spurs, and grading of campsite pads. This is the 4th most popular campground on the forest and provides substantial economic benefits to the local community. Recreation rentals are increasingly popular visitor destination and reservation availability is not meeting public demand. This project will complete deferred maintenance, such as replace siding, paint, replace worn fixtures/appliances/furnishings, repair propane lighting and/or install solar, and restore wood floors on two current recreation rentals with high visitor use and complete renovation Harvey West, Sly Guard, Alder Ridge to facilitate adding two more as recreation rentals to improve visitor experience and meet demand. R05 Eldorado and Plummer Rental Cabin Renovations CA CA-04 Recreation Site This project will also complete water system repairs. Use of guard stations and lookouts as to Meet Reservation Demands recreation rentals reduce vandalism of these historic sites and provides a unique opportunity for public enjoyment and education. The forest will modify an existing agreement with HistoriCorp to complete some of the repairs and contract with local contractors for additional improvements. This project will also expand our partnership with the Historic Lookout Association. This project will replace and/or update directional, regulatory and safety signs on publicly travelled National Forest System routes. This is deferred maintenance and most roadside signs across the Eldorado Forest Wide Public Road Forest need replaced because of decreased reflectivity and damage. Most visitors using the R05 Eldorado Safety and Directional Sign CA CA-04 Road national Forest would be affected by this improvement for both safety and improved recreation Replacement experience. The work would be done by contract. The local community are expected to have successful contractors for this type of a contract. The project is very labor intensive would be phased over a two year period. Recreation rentals are an increasingly popular visitor destination and reservation availability is not meeting public demand. This project will complete deferred maintenance, such as walkway and CrysBasin-Robbs Hut and Bunker Hill railing replacement, rodent-proofing, siding replacement, and painting on one current recreation Recreation Site, R05 Eldorado Recreation Rental and Lookout CA CA-04 rental with high visitor use and complete renovation to facilitate adding one more as recreation Water System Renovation rental to improve visitor experience and meet demand. This project will also complete water system repairs. The use of lookouts as recreation rentals will reduce vandalism of these historic sites and provide a unique opportunity for public enjoyment. This project will replace a high hazard stairway for the trail, which provides primary access in a Salt Springs Trailhead Stairway R05 Eldorado CA CA-04 Trail popular recreation area along Salt Springs Reservoir and serves as a primary access in Reconstruction Mokelumne Wilderness. This work will address critical long term safety issues. This Phase 2 development project includes upgrades to outdoor space for accessibility and safety, R05 Eldorado Highway 50 Visitor Upgrades CA CA-04 Recreation Site increased visitor use, and interpretive and informational panels. This project will repair or replace signage, resurface and/or stripe parking spurs to improve safe Wrights Lake Visitor Parking and ingress/egress, and provide for visitor safety and protection of sensitive meadow/lakeshores of the R05 Eldorado CA CA-04 Recreation Site Capacity Improvements Wrights Lake Recreation Area. The project will install an entrance kiosk to manage visitor flow and provide area information to enhance visitor experience. The Flemming Meadow Trail system is increasingly popular with mountain biking and hiking enthusiasts. This project will complete deferred trail maintenance of existing trails, including tread work, drainage features, and new signage. The project will also resurface and paint existing Fleming Meadow Trail and Access R05 Eldorado CA CA-04 Trail trailhead parking and entrance road to address visitor capacity, update information sign, and Improvements implement trail system improvements. The project will add a vault toilet. This project addresses hazard trees and will clear vegetation for safety. This project will contribute to the local economy via contracts for trailhead improvements and the tourism draw of improved facilities. Dru Barner Campground and Day Use Area is accessible year-round and popular with equestrians. This project will refurbish the well and repair the water system. The project will also install bear-resistant storage boxes, garbage receptacles and dumpsters. The project will replace information boards, repair/replace picnic tables and fire rings, maintain and improve road/spurs, Recreation Site, R05 Eldorado Dru Barner Campground Improvements CA CA-04 and repair the access road. Georgetown Divide Equestrian Trails Foundation is an active partner Water System and will provide in-kind labor and contribution to complete deferred maintenance of campground facilities. There are very few campgrounds available on the Eldorado year-round
