Dear All This year, unfortunately, saw the passing of one of the best players this County has ever seen. Much has already been written about the stellar career of Sandra Landy. She will be sorely missed, her contribution to our game has been immense. On a happier note, Following the cancellation of the Junior Teach-In at Loughborough last year I decided to run a substitute event at Ardingly College. This was a great success, with a fantastic £5,000 donation from Vivian Priday and the hard work of David Dickson, Colin Smith and Gerry Stanford, as well as additional help from Hazel Beveridge and Helen Kent, we ran a very successful weekend for over 30 children. This year, EBED have reinstated their Teach-In, so I will be running a smaller non- residential course for juniors in August playing for the Tony Priday Trophy. Meanwhile, Ollie Powell continues to run a very successful teaching class every week, Gerry Stanford is teaching at Ardingly College and Ian Wright is teaching with Stephen Waters at Brighton College who will soon be holding their second match, this time against Burgess Hill Girls’ school. I will be looking to run some more open days at schools this year, so if you have any contacts in schools that might like a minibridge taster session, please let me know At this point, as usual I would like to thank all my back room colleagues who work tirelessly in keeping the County going and keep you all playing bridge - Club heats of other SCCBA events £2.50 per player. Club fees extra. Clubs may introduce additional viable heats only in exceptional circumstances with consent of the organiser and the County Tournament Manager. Entries for all County Competitions should be entered on the Club notice boards at least seven days before the date of the event.
