And who shall stand in his holy place? A.W. Tozer - ”The presence of God is the central fact of Christianity. At the heart of the Christian message is God himself waiting for His redeemed children to push in to conscious !awareness of His presence.” Exodus 13:21-22 - ”And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did !not depart from before the people.” Exodus 19:16-18 - ”On the morning of the third day there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud on the mountain and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp trembled. Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they took their stand at the foot of the mountain. Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the LORD had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of !a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly.” Exodus 24:15-17 - ”Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. The glory of the Lord dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain !in the sight of the people of Israel.” ! ! 1. Infinitely Holy ! 2. Full of Glory ! Isaiah 6:3 - ”And one called to another and said: ”Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; !the whole earth is full of his glory.” Exodus 33:20 - ”you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.” Psalm 24:1-2 - ”The earth is the LORD`s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who !dwell therein, for he has established it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.” Psalm 24:3 - ”Who shall ascend to the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy !place?” !1. We Suppress It. Romans 1:18-20 - ”For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without !excuse.” !2. We Exchange It. Romans 1:21-23 - ”For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping !things.” We exchange the presence of God for feasting on the flesh. !We exchange the presence of God with searching for success. Helen Rubin - ”Of all the subjects we obsess about…success is the one we lie about most – that success and its cousin money will make us secure, that success and its cousin power will make us important, that success and its cousin fame will make us happy. It`s time to tell the truth…People are using all their means to get money, power and glory and then !self-destructing.” C.S. Lewis - ”It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” ! 3. We Ignore It. 2 Samuel 6:5-7 - ”And David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the Lord, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals. And when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah, and God struck him down there because of his error, and he died there beside the !ark of God.” ! 4. We Pursue It. ! Psalm 24:4 - ”He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to !what is false and does not swear deceitfully.” Psalm 24:7 - ”Lift up your heads O gates! And be lifted up O ancient doors, that the King !of glory may come in.” Psalm 24:8-10 - ”Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the king of glory.”.
