This framework is inspired by JUnit and NUnit, but it overcomes the JUnit flaws. TestNG is user friendly and it covers unit, integration and functional testing. © 2018, IRJET | Impact Factor value: 6.171 | ISO 9001:2008 Certified Journal | Page 4144 International Research Journal of Engineering and Technology (IRJET) e-ISSN: 2395-0056 Volume: 05 Issue: 05 | May-2018 www.irjet.net p-ISSN: 2395-0072 Table - 2: Annotations Support TestNG vs JUnit } @Test(timeout = 1000) Public void Timeout_Method() { System.out.println("Annotation @Test(timeout) - enforce timeout in Annotations TestNG JUnit test case"); Annotations Annotations } @Test(expected = ArithmeticException.class) public void Expected_Method() { @Test System.out.println("Annotation @Test(expected) - test for specified @Test For test annotations exception during its execution"); Applied to methods to run @BeforeSuite - int i = 10/0; before all tests in a Test Suite } } Applied to methods to run after @AfterSuite - all tests in a Test Suite Applied to methods to run @BeforeTest Following are TestNG code snippets for above - before the test annotations: Applied to methods to run after @AfterTest - the test public class TestNGAnnotations { Applied to methods to run @BeforeGroups - before the first Tests from the @BeforeGroups("Regression") same group public void BeforeGroups_Method() { Applied to methods to run after @AfterGroups System.out.println("Annotation @BeforeGroups - before test executed the first Tests from the same from same group"); group } Applied to methods to run @BeforeClass @AfterGroups("Regression") @BeforeClass before the first method in a public void AfterGroups_Method() { class is invoked System.out.println("Annotation @AfterGroups - after test executed from Applied to methods to run after @AfterClass same group"); @AfterClass the first method in a class is } invoked @BeforeClass Applied to the methods to run @BeforeMethod public void BeforeClass_Method() { @Before before each test method System.out.println("Annotation @BeforeClass - before all test cases "); } Applied to the methods to run @AfterMethod @After @AfterClass after each test method public static void AfterClass_Method() { To ignore a test method @ignore @Test(enabled System.out.println("Annotation @AfterClass - after all test cases"); = false) } @BeforeMethod Timeout for test method @Test(timeout = @Test(timeout public void Before_Method() { 1000) = 1000) System.out.println("Annotation @Before - before each test cases "); } @AfterMethod 5. CONCLUSIONS As per the above study both the frameworks are good for automation testing. Though JUnit is most popular and widely used testing framework, it does not offer much functionalities as compared to TestNG such as grouping, parallelism, dataProvider/ parametrization, reporting. TestNG provides better flexibility than JUnit.
