In collaboration with other central western councils and Remote Area Planning and Development Board (RAPAD), we work together to deliver better outcomes for the greater region. Council has a strong focus on ensuring financial sustainability whilst supporting economic diversification and growth within the region. We are currently finalising our 2021-25 Corporate Plan with a strong focus on consolidating prior year gains, supporting economic and community development and delivering a sustainable future. As I was appointed CEO in February 2021, I am relatively new to the region and understand that it can be a big decision to apply for a role in the Central West. I have found Barcaldine and the region to be very welcoming. Many people describe Barcaldine as a small town that punches well above its weight and I have found that to be very true. In addition to good health and education services, we have sporting and cultural options to suit almost everyone and our local businesses work hard to offer fresh produce and quality experiences. The town is supplied with great tasting water from the Great Artesian Basin, so we have a relatively plentiful supply, which means the town is inviting and green even in summer months. If you enjoy an aquatic lifestyle, Lake Dunn offers an ideal place for water activities and when we launch the new 3.5km water sports park, water skiing and stand-up paddle boarding will be very popular with locals and tourists alike. I am looking for a people-focussed Human Resource Manager who is passionate about leading people to achieve Council’s goals and keen for a challenge. In return you will be a valued member of our team and I welcome your input and contributions towards our continually improving organisation.
