
Annual Monitoring Report 2013 1 Executive Summary Cheshire The North West Aggregate Working Party (NWAWP) is one of nine similar working parties throughout England and Wales established in the 1970's, the core functions of which are set out in the. The W est membership of the North West AWP is detailed in Appendix B and is illustrated in Map 1.1. and The Annual Monitoring report AM2013 represents the twentieth annual report and provides sales and Chester reserve data for the calendar years 2011 and 2012. The report provides data for each of the five sub-regions of Cheshire East; Cheshire West and Chester; Cumbria; Greater Manchester, Merseyside Council and Warrington; and Lancashire as illustrated in Map 1.2. Total aggregate reserves decreased by 12.5% from 378.03mt to 330.79mt as at 31 December 2011. Council 1.3 During the 2012 monitoring period total aggregate sales increased by 8.5% to 8.03mt. Total aggregate reserves also increased slightly to 331.71mt as at 31 December 2012. North 1.4 Sales of crushed rock aggregate fell by 15.8% from 6.27mt in 2010 to 5.28mt in 2011. Sales of W limestone and sandstone and igneous rock also fell during the monitoring period by 16.3% and 20.8% est respectively. Sales of High Specification Aggregate (HSA) increased marginally by 1.7% from 0.59mt Aggregate in 2010 to 0.60mt in 2011. 1.5 During the 2012 monitoring period sales of crushed rock aggregate increased by 9.8% to 5.8mt. W Sales of limestone and sandstone and igneous rock both increased during the monitoring period by orking 4.1% and 33% respectively. Sales of HSA fell by 8.3% from 0.6mt in 2011 to 0.55mt. Party 1.6 Reserves of crushed rock aggregate fell by 12.9% from 341.86mt in 2010 to 295.46mt as at 31 - December 2011. In line with sales patterns for the monitoring period reserves of limestone and sandstone AM2013 and igneous rock also fell by 5.2% and 24.7% respectively. Reserves of HSA increased slightly by 4.9% 13.16mt in 2010 to 13.8mt as at 31 December 2011. 1.7 As at 31 December 2012 reserves of crushed rock aggregate were 1.5% lower than during the 2011 monitoring period. Reserves of both limestone and HSA fell during the 2012 monitoring period by 3.7% and 0.7% respectively, whilst reserves of sandstone and igneous rock increased by 3.3%. 1.8 Total sand and gravel aggregate sales fell by 17.5% from 2.57mt in 2010 to 2.12mt in 2011. Sales of both land-won and marine dredged aggregate sand and gravel fell during the monitoring period 2011 by 18.3% and 10.7% respectively. Reserves of aggregate sand and gravel fell by 2.3% from 36.17mt in 2010 to 35.33mt as at 31 December 2011. 1.9 Aggregate sand and gravel sales increased during the 2012 monitoring period by 8.9% from 2.12mt in 2011 to 2.23mt. Sales of land-won aggregate sand and gravel increased by 7.5% whilst sales of marine dredged aggregate sand and gravel continued to fall by 12% from 0.25mt in 2011 to 0.22mt.
