PHOTO DAY TIMETABLE Auskick Round 7 Match Report Blue & Red A great day for footy today at Barden Ridge. After a fast start Aiden kicks a goal in the first minute, Aiden was supported well by Audrey, Oliver and Chase. Sam and Nils were great defenders when Bangor had the ball. Joshua’s handball technique was great. Lachlan and Zachary R (as usual) could not be separated and helped start things in the second half. Harley and Ned had strong games, Lucas and Audrey also played their hearts out. Luke, Darcy, Brook and Jonathan finished off the game strong. Great game by all, everyone had lots of fun!! White Archer opened Penshurst’s account with an early goal. Bangor struck back with two quick goals despite Audrey’s strong mud-field defence while dressed in a panda onesie. Great smothering defence by Ruby resulted in another great Penshurst goal to Archer. Barra was all over the midfield, also scoring three goals. Jeida clearing kicks from the back goal square were very impressive as was his defence. Oliver E’s handpassing was very controlled and precise. In the end a great team, matched well played the Panthers. 5 Auskick Round 7 Match Report ...Continued Green Great first goal byAlex . A great midfield kick by Patrick to the forward line. Bryn was strong in the ruck contest. Smothering defence by Marc. Siddharth was solid at the back with a towering mark above the pack. Liam L with a solid kick to the forward line marked by Jett. Another great shot at goal for Jett. Good teamwork with handballs lead to a goal by Caden. Caden with a selfless handball to setup Bryn for a snap goal. Liam P kicked a pearler goal from a pass from Bryn. Xavier smothered a ball and had a kick to goal. Siddharth was a snap goal from in front. Well players Panthers, it was an awesome display of teamwork. Our Players of the Match for Round 7 were: Samuel Knight, Oliver Peterson, Joshua Robinson, Luke Smith, Darcy Vida, Jonathon Young, Audrey Grygiel, Liam Plunkett, Patrick Robinson & Alex Weightman 6 U9 Green Round 7 Match Report A crisp cool but sunny morning greeted the Penshurst Panthers Green team at Barden Ridge oval where the Bangor Tigers were ready, in full strength and awaiting our team. The team were coming off an improving run but had been left bitterly disappointed last week after a close fought loss. The odds were even tougher this week as Jay Putra was unavailable, which left us with 10 players and Bangor were ready to field a team of 12 with an interchange as well. Our U8 team answered the call and stepped right up with 3 volunteers in Liam, Brynn and Sedat willing and able to play back to back games for the mighty Panthers. The game started hot and saw Bangor race to an early lead, the Panthers were playing well but were caught out by some swift ball movement, however some desperate defensive pressure from the likes of Hugh and Owen pushed the ball out and nullified the consistent pressure from Bangor, through Tsigris they drove the ball out of the backline and into the middle where the 3 Tom’s combination were able to deliver to Tonkes who kicked truly and kept the Panthers in touch. In the second quarter the Panthers really stepped up and started dominating play, Blackman was on fire this week after being injured last week and looked like he wanted to make up for lost time, stiff arming and fending his way through Bangor’s best efforts to stop him, in the second half he nailed 2 great goals and one nail biting torpedo punt from the boundary line that teased the goal line before sliding through for a minor score. Hugh Robertson was notable around the packs when playing in the center and created a lot of drive on his way to racking up multiple possessions. Owen was also in great form today, not only did he rack up an impressive number of possessions but he used the ball well and made a real impact with how he used the ball, great job. 7 U9 Green Round 7 Match Report ...Continued Our second quarter was marred by being unable to find an avenue to goal, we were unfortunately undone by Bangor congesting our forward line and ensuring we were not getting return for our effort. The second half saw us address this and Bangor had no answers, Ben Clayton ran riot again and was unstoppable. Thomas Egan was great in the ruck and Alex Tsigris found the goals. When Ben Clayton converted one of the goals of the year things looked ominous for Bangor. Thomas Menner got on a roll and laid some great tackles and used the ball very well, Josh Guy stepped up today with some well delivered hand passes clearing the ball and Henry built on his fast start to deliver an impressive four quarter performance. If there was any doubt in the minds of the spectators this was closed permanently with Lewis performing a floss dance in the goal square after nailing a beauty. This was The Panthers day and they looked fantastic. The big surprise were our U8’s who stepped up and looked like they belonged in U9’s, Brynn was one of the best players on the ground in the 3 quarters he played and racked up 6 possessions, using the ball beautifully, Liam was just behind him with 4 quality possessions as well. Sedat has an engine the size of a truck and answered our call to tag a Bangor forward, he ran out the last quarter (of his second game!!) and did not let his opponent near the ball, an incredible effort. Leading Stats (Thank you to Ari Tsigris)..... Coach Andrew 8 U9 White Round 7 Match Report The Panthers U9s White team travelled to Taren Point to face Cronulla Sharks high on confidence after a big win over Miranda Red the previous week. And the boys sure played like a group brimming with self-belief. Our young skipper for the day, James, won the toss and the day just got better from there. Clean skills and some excellent passing set the tone from the middle of the park, with Frankie’s relentless run, Fionn’s competitiveness and Lachie’s hunger for the ball giving our forwards every opportunity. The two Williams - Will T and Will M - hit the scoreboard early on, and both majors were crackers, Will M’s effort a candidate for goal of the year - 30m out, on the run, hard against the boundary, wrong side for a right footer but through the middle it sailed. Lincoln had his eyes firmly fixed on the prize - those two uprights - and he too had his goal kicking boots on, adding three of his own in a good performance. James was his own kind of menace, winning plenty of hard ball, and wound have had a couple of six-pointers but for errant kicking, but we had scoring options galore with the tireless Frankie and the rapidly improving Billy chiming in with majors. Alex was again at his ball-winning, tackling best and Luke contributed to many forward thrusts with his run and carry. A special mention goes to Oscar, who played his first game of the year and got right into the thick of things after a long spell on the sidelines. Come the final siren, Oscar and his teammates had kept their opponents goalless and there were smiles all round. Twelve hands on top of each other, we belted out our catch-cry with real feeling ... “Penshurst Panthers White, We’re Better Than Alright!” Well done, boys. Looking forward to a big day at Olds on Sunday, and the second instalment of the Catfight against the Green boys. Yours in Australian Football, coach Scott. 9 U10s Round 7 Match Report 27/05/18 U10 Boys v Heathcoate at Heathcoate Oval On a great autumns day, they boys once again came ready play against a tough opposition.
