This campaign will include educating Global Citizens about reducing plastic usage and encourage recycling waste. This campaign will kick off on Saturday 15th of September 2018, it coincides with World Clean Up Day. With the support of Mayor Mashaba, councillors, City departments and regional offices, Johannesburg residents are encouraged to unite with the rest of the world for one goal – a cleaner world. The City will provide bags and gloves to all participants which can be collected at City walk-in centres, depots, clinics and libraries. Some lucky participants of the cleanup will stand a chance to win general and VIP tickets to the Global Citizen Festival Mandela 100.
