A GUIDE TO WORKING FROM HOME WORK TIPS AND TRICKS Hey, this is new to most of us. Take a moment to decompress and check out these tips on how to effectively work from home while crushing business. Pick a spot – Make an “office” area with plenty of light and if possible, a door to shut. If you have a desk, use it. Get a schedule, try to stick with It – Use your calendar to plan your day and check tasks off as you complete them. Routine – Try to mimic your normal morning and nighttime routines. Do you usually wake up and work out? Don’t stop now! Use online resources to get your sweat on. Does a walk at noon break up your day? Get outside and safely (remember, 6 feet) breathe some fresh air. Take breaks and let your team know – When you feel yourself craving the afternoon break, do it! Let your team know you are stepping away for 20 minutes so they can help field calls, answer questions, etc. Better yet, schedule time in advance to hold yourself accountable.. Use your commute time – Now that you don’t have to drive, bus or walk to work – use that time! Whether it’s cooking breakfast, doing a 20 minute power clean or meditating, it can be a great addition to your day. 1 STAY HEALTHY Keep up with your diet – Try to avoid snacking on treats you have in the house. Eating more sugar has proven to impact your mood and energy level. Stay healthy – Take a walk, do a workout or stretch at least once a day. If you need help finding a workout that is right for you, keep reading! Shower (but really) – Keep up with your hygiene and dress routine so your mind stays fresh. If you usually shower at 5:30am, don’t break the habit! Dress the part. Sweatpants are great but you want to separate “work time” and “off work time” as much as you can. Check in with yourself – If you feel sick or need someone to talk to, consider telehealth (aka virtual visits.) You can speak with a doctor or therapist – anytime, anywhere. NO GYM? NO PROBLEM! Best part – no one has to travel home at the end of the night! Read a book – It sounds simple, but if you wish to check some books off your must read list this is a great time to do so. Make a daily or weekly schedule with times to play outside, use an iPad or do some online learning Got naptime? If your kids have a specific naptime, try to schedule calls, administrative tasks or time for projects while they are catching some Z’s. Plan for some interruptions. According to parents.com, nonverbal cues that state “do not disturb” could be helpful (red ribbon around your closed office door, a specific hat when you are on a conference call, etc.) Take comfort in knowing that your Managers and coworkers get it – things (and tantrums) happen! If you need to step away for playtime, do it! Communicate with your manager and team when you have specific times to spend with your kids. 5 LITTLE ONES Besides watching Frozen 2 on repeat, here are some resources to keep your kids entertained: ABC Mouse – Offers a 30 day trial for digital games/lessons for math, language arts and more. Watch the beluga whales live at the Georgia Aquarium. Jack Hartmann’s Kids Music Channel – YouTube resource for kids. There are songs for everything – from counting to the alphabet to learning sign language. Scholastic Magazine – Online and At Home Learning Stories, Videos and Activities. Make your own playdough. Check out this recipe. Storyline Online – An online resource where a favorite book or two can be read. Pictures are shown and sometimes you will see a celebrity or two you know as the guest reader. Troll Yoga- Love doing yoga? Your kids might too! Do a science experiment! Make elephant toothpaste.
