Although we have endeavoured to make the list error- free to the extent possible, it is open for the officers to bring to notice any error or suggestion for its further improvement. The Civil List indicates e-mail IDs created by National Informatics Centre (NIC) in respect of PCCF (Head of Forestry Force) and Principal Secretaries (Forests) of all state cadres as also for all the Indian Forest Service Officers as shown against the name of the officers. Similarly the procedure for Online Updation of IFS Officers Executive Record Sheet has also been detailed. It is observed that this facility is not being optimally utilized. This is especially important since most of the important circulars, notifications, notices etc. are communicated to the officers through their email addresses also. Officers may also visit IFS website http://ifs.nic.in for effective and efficient linkage/ inter action. The Civil List does not confer any right/ official sanction or authority in respect of the particulars given therein including inter-se- seniority. In case of any doubt or dispute, the same may be verified with the original records available with the State/ Central Government. We are grateful to all the State Governments, UT Administrations and Members of the Service for their co-operation in bringing out the List. We would also like to place on record our deep appreciation for untiring efforts of the IFS and the NIC Division in the Ministry of Environment & Forests. ( Vivek Saxena ) Director (IFS Cadre Management) New Delhi Telefax: 011-24362065 April 20, 2010 email : [email protected] [email protected] IFS E-mail Service Official IFS E-mail Service has been started for all the IFS Officers. The email addresses would be [email protected]. Hereinafter ifscode is without slash "/" and in small letters. One of the obvious benefit of this service is the creation of Mailing Lists i.e., All IFS Officers, Cadre-wise IFS Officers and Batch-wise IFS Officers. Please make use of these lists in your bulk communications using single E-mail Addresses as given below. Please note that only the respective members could use these lists freely. It has been observed that few IFS Officers have created E-mails for Mailing Lists from their E-mail Accounts other than Official IFS E-mail Accounts. As a policy of the List Manager, it is not allowed and thus, such E-mails are not delivered to the intended recipients. Therefore, IFS Officers are requested to create E-mails from their Official IFS E-Mail Accounts only. An access to your Mailbox has been given through an URL http://mail.ifs.nic.in and your Login Name is IFS Code plus ".ifs". You are requested to change your Password immediately after first Login. Password Change Procedure is given below. e.g., For Mr. H.C. Dhawan (IFS Code: AGMU/026), the email address shall be [email protected] and Mailbox Access details are as follows: Website: http://mail.ifs.nic.in Login Name: agmu026.ifs Password: ifs2005 For any technical difficulties, please contact Mr. Anil Kumar, NIC on telephone no. 011-24363819 or [email protected] and Mr. Naeem Ahmed, Nic on Telephone no. 011-24305346 or email- [email protected] (i) Password Change Procedure • Login to your Mailbox • Goto to Options • Click Change Password Hyperlink • Input your Old Password • Input your New Password (to be set) • Re-input your New Password for verification • Press Submit Button Accordingly, all the IFS Mailing Lists have been updated with their corresponding email addresses. Please make use of these LISTS in your bulk communications with your colleagues. The beauty of these LISTS is that they are represented by single E-mail Addresses. Thus, by sending an email to one email address, the IFS Mailing System will in-turn send that email to every member in the List in one go. Name of these LISTS are as follows: • All IFS Officers List (1 No.) • Cadre-wise IFS Officers Lists (24 Nos.) • Batch-wise IFS Officers Lists (starting from 1968 Batch, now 39 in Nos.) Kindly keep clearing INBOX emails after reading as they occupy lot of server space. It’s because of the fact this most of the emails come from IFS Emailing Lists into your INBOX. Some of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are answered here as under: • Is there a way to have other emails into IFS E-mail INBOX? • How to access my IFS E-mail Box? • What will be my E-mail address? • How to change my identification? • How to change the password? • E-mail created for IFS Mailing List not delivered? The up-to-date information about IFS Emailing System is available on http://ifs.nic.in/main/ifs_email.htm.
