Each child registered will receive an activity pack with materials to enhance this interactive program. *Activity packs are included with the program price and will be available for porch pickup January 6-8. Supply pick-up will be arranged on an individual basis for those who join after the program has started.* Instructor: Katherine Boisvert LITTLE CREATORS AGES 2+ Fridays 10:30-11:15 AM January 8 - January 29 $44 Virtual AND/OR February 5 - February 26 $44 Virtual Through story, songs, and crafts, your child will explore a new theme each week. This interactive Zoom program is designed for you and your busy toddler to get creative. Each child registered will receive an activity pack at the start of the course with the supplies needed to create along with friends while safely at home. *Activity packs are included with the program price and will be available for porch pickup with the child’s name on it Thursday, January 7th. Supply pick-up will be arranged on an individual basis for those who join after the program has started.* Instructor: Katherine Boisvert 6 CHILD & YOUTH PROGRAMS VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON LEGO® CLASSES WITH “The LEGO® guy,” Ian Dudley of Orange STEM Education is Ottawa’s leader in LEGO education, teaching engineering, mechanics and robotics using the full range of LEGO, including Mindstorms EV3, NXT and Technic. Ian is a mechanical engineering technologist with eighteen years of experience developing and leading LEGO classes, workshops, competitions and parties. IN-PERSON LEGO® Extensive Safety Protocols Orange STEM Education & OSCA have extensive safety protocols in place for all in-person learning. Our students work individually and socially distanced in small numbers. Each student has an individual clean surface for building. Individual clean LEGO pieces and technology are provided to each student, and no equipment is shared in a class. Tablets and instructions are sealed in plastic. Kits are numbered and tracked. All LEGO and equipment are fully cleaned and disinfected before use by another student. Ian wears an N95 mask and student masks are required. LEGO® POWERED UP ROBOTICS AGES 7 AND UP Saturday, January 23, 2021 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM $53 In-person at the Firehall This in-person workshop, with “the LEGO guy” Ian Dudley of Orange STEM Education, offers hands-on robotics projects and challenges. Learn how to build and code robots designed with the newest Powered Up Technic elements. Learn about engineering principles as you build a selection of Ian's unique projects. Bring these projects to life with the 4-port Powered Up smart hub and motors. Explore a wide range of coding blocks for both remote control and autonomous control of your robot. Strengthen your building skills and your understanding of engineering principles as you build the “I-bot”, a Mindstorms EV3 robot, and control it with rotation, colour and ultrasonic sensors.
