Outside the United States, Yahoo! Shopping's global properties saw rapid growth, with holiday season 2000 transaction volume increasing more than six times from the previous year. With the recent launch of Yahoo! Brazil Shopping, Yahoo! Shopping is now available in 14 countries and 10 languages, making it the most widely deployed Internet shopping service around the world. Yahoo! Shopping Holiday Season Highlights 2000 holiday season order volume to Yahoo! Shopping nearly doubled in the U.S. over 1999. Compared to the previous year, order volume to Yahoo! Shopping properties outside the U.S. increased more than six times during the holiday shopping period. Order volume nearly tripled to U.S. based brand-name retailers who also have a physical retail store. In the United States, the peak day on Yahoo! Shopping for the 2000 holiday shopping season was Monday, Dec. 11, compared to Monday Dec. 13, 1999. The Hottest Products Around the World From Spain to Australia and Brazil to Japan, consumers around the globe gravitated toward a number of popular products this holiday season. Based on sales and search data from Yahoo! Shopping's properties worldwide, the most popular products this holiday season included the following: Worldwide: Sony PlayStation products, Harry Potter books North America: Sony PlayStation products, DVDs/DVD players, digital cameras, robotic dogs and cats, scooters, personal digital assistants (PDAs) Asia: Sony PlayStation products, mobile phones, Hello Kitty toys, Harry Potter books, CDs Europe: Harry Potter books, Sony PlayStation products, mobile phones Some unique product trends also emerged in certain countries, including Korea, where Christmas cakes were among the most popular items, while in Japan, Rolex watches were a top seller. Global Expansion With the launch this year of Yahoo! Shopping properties in Singapore, Brazil, Canada and Hong Kong, Yahoo!
