Achievements and Credits BEING A PEOPLE'S PRINCIPAL An article by DPS-MIS Principal, Ms. Asna Nafees ‘Being A People’s Principal – Keeping people at the heart of decision making’ was published in an educationists’ magazine ‘Mentor-A Matter of Principal’ initiated by LXL Ideas to empower educators who are rediscovering education. The magazine was released in the 31st CBSE Gulf Principals’ Conference, under the aegis of Council of CBSE Affiliated Schools in the Gulf region, held from 2nd January to 5th January 2019 in Bengaluru. The article highlighted the importance of democratic leadership that helps in building human relationships. DPS-MIS PRINCIPAL MS. ASNA NAFEES RECEIVES RECOGNITION FOR OUTSTANDING RESULTS FOR THE SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR Principal, Ms. Asna Nafees, received the 'Toppers Award' on behalf of her school for its path breaking results in Grade X and XII. In CBSE All India Secondary School Examination, DPS-MIS students, MALIKA SATYENDRA DIKSHIT (99%) and OLIMA FAISAL KONATH (98.4%) have topped the Gulf region, bagging the first and second positions respectively. In the Class XII Board examination, PRITHVIRAJ RAY with 97.4% and S NIKIL ROASHAN with 97% have emerged as Qatar toppers. PADMA BHUSHAN AWARDED TO MR. V. K. SHUNGLU, CHAIRMAN, DPS SOCIETY The Chairman of Delhi Public School Society, Mr. V.K. Shunglu was recently conferred with India’s highest civilian award, the ‘Padma Bhushan’ by the President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind during the 26th January celebrations in NewDelhi. ACADEMIC CORNER DIAGNOSTIC TEST UNDER QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAMME (QAP) 2018-19 CONDUCTED BY DPS SOCIETY Under the aegis of the DPS Society ‘Quality Assurance Programme’, a common test for class VI prepared centrally by the DPSS-HRD Centre, administered and scored by the school as per the marking scheme provided by DPSS- HRD Centre was held on Wednesday, 23 January, 2019 for English and Mathematics. This will assess the student‘s readiness for middle school. REVISION EXAMINATION WAS CONDUCTED FOR GRADE VI TO VIII. SESSION ENDING (2018-2019) & SCHEDULE FOR BOOKS AND UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION FOR 2019-2020 HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED. CLASS V - VIII - REMEDIAL CLASSES FOR ANNUAL EXAMINATION - 2018-19 HAD BEEN CONDUCTED DURING PREPARATORY HOLIDAYS. WEBZINE TERM 3 PUBLISHED LIST OF HOLIDAYS (VACATIONS: 2019-20) ANNOUNCED ANNUAL EXAMINATION Annual examination for the academic year, 2018-19 for classes VI to VIII was conducted from 28 February to 11 March. After evaluation, answer scripts were distributed to children on 17 March, 2019. Result declaration along with report card distribution was done on 21 March, 2019. Children maintained consistency in the number of Proficiency, Scholar Badge and 100% Attendance. RESULT OF SOF NATIONAL CYBER OLYMPIAD NCO - 2018-19 declared CLASS I TO XII EXTERNAL EXAMINATION RESULT 2018-19 DECLARED EVENTS CORNER THE 5TH ALUMNI MEET AT DPS MIS - 2018-19 The 5th Alumni meet of DPS Modern Indian School was held on 22nd December 2018. The wonderful event provided an opportunity for old students and teachers to reunite and reminisce their experiences. Around 150 students of reputed universities from abroad and India attended the meet along with school authorities and dignitaries. DPS-MIS STUDENTS EXPLORED THE BEAUTY OF AL BIDDA PARK AND LEARNED TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT DPS-Modern Indian School organized picnics for classes VI to VIII. This year, the destination was Al Bidda Park, one of the largest parks in Doha, known for its lush green fields, enchanting fountains and well-developed play areas. It was a well spent time and the children went back home with a broad smile, rejuvenated spirits and fond memories. AN ELT WORKSHOP HELD FOR DPS-MIS ENGLISH FACULTY BY AN EXPERIENCED CBSE & NCERT RESOURCE PERSON 2018-19 DPS MIS organized a two-day English Language Teaching Workshop for its teachers to hone their teaching, testing and evaluating skills on 12 & 13 January, 2019. The workshop was conducted by the Oxford University Press, India with Ms. Gayatri Khanna, an ELT expert associated with CBSE, as the resource person. The facilitator, Ms. Gayatri Khanna, dealt with the key aspects of teaching language skills, grammar, vocabulary and poetry and discussed the expected changes in the CBSE Curriculum, modules and policies in near future. DPS MIS TEACHERS ENHANCE DIFFERENTIATED TEACHING SKILLS THROUGH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME 2018-19 A workshop on Differentiated Teaching and Learning was conducted in DPS-MIS on 17th January. Various speakers highlighted the significance of implementing a broader repertoire of management strategies for guiding a flexible and differentiated classroom. SCHOOL SAFETY DAY HELD AT DPS-MIS TO REINFORCE THE SAFETY RULES - 2018-19 DPS-Modern Indian School organized the ‘School Safety Day’ on January 21, 2019 with an aim to brief the students on some of the major safety concerns and reinforce the safety rules to promote a happy and safe school culture. Principal, Ms. Asna Nafees, in her address, gave valuable safety guidelines to the students and advised them to remain alert, maintain discipline and abide by the rules and regulations to support a happy and healthy school atmosphere. It was followed by a pledge taking ceremony appealing everyone to assert safety in day to day life. DPS-MIS STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE SPECIAL ASSEMBLY IN VIEW OF THE 70TH REPUBLIC DAY OF INDIA The 70th Republic Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at DPS-Modern Indian School on 26th January, 2019. An air of patriotism pervaded the atmosphere as the Chief Guest Mr. Rocky Fernandes, unfurled the Indian tricolor and the entire DPS-MIS fraternity, infused with the spirit of pride, exuberance and patriotism, sang the National Anthem. A special assembly was conducted by the students of the senior and junior wing of DPS-Modern Indian school. Principal Ms Asna Nafees in her address highlighted the role of youth in nation building and stressed that the youth of today, should respect, understand, realize and utilize the immense power vested in their hands to shape our Nation by their contribution, be it big or small. DPS-MIS STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN SCIENCE AND QATAR HISTORY EXHIBITION QUEST 2018-19 SCIENCE AND QATAR HISTORY EXHIBITION QUEST 2018-19 let students to learn, use, and demonstrate important science and reasoning steps with active exploration when compared to more passive modes of learning or rote memorization. Qatar History exhibits helped the students to enlighten them with the legacy of the resident country. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Memorial Trophy for the year 2018-2019 has been awarded to Milind Sudheer (VI K) for his project titled – Small Scale production of Biogas and its Uses. His project was simple, innovative, economic and was a model that could be used by all individuals in their backyard to produce clean and green energy. PRIME MINISTER MR. MODI’S LIVE INTERACTION WITH THE STUDENTS 2018-19 As a part of second edition “Pariksha pe Charcha 2.0”, honourable Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi interacted with students, parents and teachers at New Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium on January 29, 2019. This interactive session was based on the book, “Exam Warriors” authored by the Prime Minister. The live telecast of the session was arranged for the students of DPS-Modern Indian School, Doha in the school auditorium as per the guidance of the Indian Embassy. The students from Grade VIII to XII attended this enlightening session. This was the first time, students from all over India and abroad including Russia, Nigeria, Iran, Nepal, Doha, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Singapore, participated in the event and interacted with him. With less than two months to go for the final examination, PM Modi discussed the ways how students, parents and teachers can handle the stress pertaining to the exams DPS-MIS MUN DELEGATES PARTICIPATE IN THE HAGUE INTERNATIONAL MODEL UNITED NATIONS QATAR CONFERENCE - 2018-19 DPS-Modern Indian School participated in the VIII annual THIMUN Qatar conference from 22.01.2019 to 25.01.2019 held at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC). The theme for this year's conference was 'Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions'. Jaideep Singh brought laurels to the school by acting as Deputy Secretary General for the conference. DPSMIS STUDENTS 7 TEACHERS WIN BIG AT THE SCIENCE GALA AWARDS Science Gala Awards 2018, the Annual Award Ceremony of Science India Forum Qatar was conducted by SIF-Q in order to honour the students and teachers of the various Indian Schools of Qatar, who successfully participated and won accolades in competitions, science workshops and seminars organized by SIFQ in 2018. In the Award Ceremony, the winners of Shastrapratibha Contest and Shastrapradarshan 2018 were recognized with mementos and certificates. The teachers who served as Guides for the finalist teams of NCSC were also awarded with Plaques of Appreciation. DPS-MIS ORGANIZED A WORKSHOP ON BRAIN UTILIZATION IN LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT On February 3, 2019, a workshop on Brain Utilization in Learning and Development was conducted for all the teachers of DPS-MIS by Mr.Saiju Aravind, Founder and Chief Mentor of EduBrisk Knowledge Solutions.
