Ancestors see file "Kakerbeck" His residence in 1874 was Rahmstorf near Goldbeck. Emigrated on the "Pommerania"; arrival NY May 13, 1874; from Hamburg via Le Havre / France. He came with his 14-year- old grandson Johann (born Dec 22, 1859), illegitimate child of his daughter Margarethe Lemmermann. He was too old to do farmwork and never farmed in US, but lived on homestead southwest of Johnson Church, Bigstone Co., Moonshine Township, MN. Letter of intent: June 7, 1878 Census 1885: Lived with his son Jürgen (George) in Stevens Co, MN. Church marriage (1) on 19.09.1834 in Bargstedt to Gesche BREDEHÖFT, died on 19.09.1846 in Oersdorf. Farmed in Ahrensmoor (was a farm worker), Lower Saxony, District of Stade.Emigrated prior to father and little nephew, Johann (b. 1859). Sailed from Hamburg to Galveston, TX; arrival May 18, 1870. Applied for emigration Dec 3, 1869 at Amt Harsefeld. Said he wanted to go to New York. At the time of his application he was a farmhand in Ohrensen, parish of Bargstedt. From obituary Aug 6, 1929: Veteran of franco-prussian war (Is an error: it was the battle of Langensalza between Hannoverian and Prussian troops. Jürgen was drafted and joined the 4th Hannoverian Infantery Regiment on Apr 15,1865. Was discharged on July 2, 1866. Prussia incorporated the Kingdom of Hannover) Jürgen went to Red Wing, MN, where he farmed a few years. In 1878 took a homestead in western part of Stevens Co. and in the same spring moved to Morris (nearest town) and farmed there until fall when they moved unto the homestead. On 26 Nov 1883 he purchased 160 acres (Land Records - Minnesota). In 1912 the family moved to Sauk Rapids, MN. She wrote about her life: My father was Claus Albrecht, my mother´s name Margaretha, née Kohl. I came to America May 19, 1874. (First) to New York and from there I took the train to Red Wing, Minnesota. Married George Lemmermann on the 21st of June, 1875. In 1878 we moved to Morris, our home. 10 children were born to us; 7 boys and 3 girls. One boy preceded us into eternity. In 1912 we moved to Sauk Rapids. In 1929 my husband died. In 1932 my son George and I moved to Princeton, on the first of April; they have lived there for 4 years, 3 months and 11 days. One daughter lives in Sisseton, SD, Mrs. Rudolf Ebel. 2 children in Chokio, Mrs Henry Heinz and Claire Lemmerman, and 4 sons in Sauk Rapids, John, Willie, Peter, Fred, and 2 children near (by) Sisseton, George and Mrs. Aug. Marquardt. There were 39 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren who survived her. She died July 11 at 8.45 in the evening.
