Originally known as Day Tree, Stagg was renamed in 1960 to honor Amos Alonzo Stagg. This tree is the only really large sequoia tree on private land. The owner generously granted public access to it. The Stagg Tree is the largest outside of the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park.
