USDA ~ United States Department of Agriculture Amos Alonzo Stagg Tree Giant Sequoia National Monument About: The Stagg tree is the world's 5th largest tree, the largest tree in Giant Sequoia National Monument, and the largest privately-owned tree on Earth. Originally known as Day Tree, Stagg was renamed in 1960 to honor Amos Alonzo Stagg. This tree is the only really large sequoia tree on private land. The owner generously granted public access to it. Please respect the residents who live in this area by slowing your speed down to 25 MPH, and realize no bathrooms or water is available. PLEASE NO SMOKING OR LITTERING The Giant Sequoia (Sequoia Giganteum) are the largest trees in the world. They are native only to the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. The Stagg Tree is the largest outside of the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park.
