Raffle and Retiring Collection in aid of Registered Charity No. 1143426 Manager, Roger Hopwood St. David’s Hall is owned, funded and managed by Cardiff Council Here we are again! Welcome to our journey through the back catalogue of the House of Mouse! It’s been 6 years since we were last here and as well as the choir changing there’s been lots of new Disney film scores to plunder in putting this concert together. Any concert featuring Disney music at the moment wouldn’t be complete without something from Frozen, so of course we’ll feature that! My daughter might have had something to say if I hadn’t as well! We then put together a programme of the well known, and the less well known, but absolutely every one a gem. And that’s what we present tonight. A lot has happened since we last met! We were delighted to end the year raising over £5,000 for our friends at The Forget Me Not Chorus, we know the money is already making a difference and we hope to be able to invite them back in the future to perform with us. We helped out our friends at Cyncoed Methodist Church raise money for the work they do in Cardiff with the homeless through their ‘Soup Run’ - this year almost £1,000 to add to the £2,000 we’ve raised in previous years. We also performed for the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales at St German’s Church, in February! Now those of you who have followed the choir for some time will remember that we’ve performed there a number of times and it is somewhat chilly! Needless to say it’s an unusual feeling performing with a jumper under my black shirt!! Plus the Curtis family has welcomed another new addition, Noah, on the day after the Cyncoed Concert! Nothing like timed to perfection. When putting the programme together I approached our incredibly talented friend David Harrington to commission a special overture to get us started. I’m delighted to be sharing it with you tonight. We think there are 27 themes included but it’s difficult to tell with some of them flashing past in seconds! See how many you can spot! After tonight we’ll take our traditional summer break and then come back refreshed to start on our Christmas programme for 2015 REJOICE AND BE MERRY! We’ll also be squeezing in our first ‘tour’ as over 100 of our singers will be travelling to Cornwall in November to perform in a variety of exciting venues, eat the odd Cream Tea and down the odd medicinal alcoholic beverage to loosen the vocal chords! We hope you enjoy tonight, and remember…..the dreams that you wish do come true!
