Its combination of properties makes ZERON Temp, Yield Strength, Tensile 100 the optimum choice in a range of industries. ZERON 100 is highly °C (°F) 0.2% offset Strength resistant to corrosion in a wide range of organic and inorganic acids. MPa (ksi) MPa (ksi) The copper content gives excellent resistance to corrosion in many 20 (68) 550 (80) 750 (109) non-oxidizing acids. This alloy is also highly resistant to strong alkalis. 50 (122) 500 (73) 725 (105) ZERON 100 is not recommended for uses which involve extended 100 (212) 470 (68) 700 (102) exposure to temperatures greater than 300°C (572°F) as this 150 (302) 450 (65) 680 (99) causes a substantial reduction in toughness. 200 (392) 430 (62) 670 (97) It should be noted that the UNS S32760 designation merely specifies 250 (482) 400 (58) 650 (94) a broad compositional range, whereas the composition of ZERON 100 300 (572) 385 (56) 635 (92) is tightly controlled in strict accordance with the requirements of our in house “MDS” specifications. This ensures a consistent quality product Table 3 - Plate 31 to 70mm (1.22 to 2.76”) is produced, and the stated corrosion, mechanical and physical Temp, Yield Strength, Tensile properties are maintained. °C (°F) 0.2% offset Strength ZERON 100 is stocked in a variety of sizes of pipe, fittings, flanges, MPa (ksi) MPa (ksi) plate and bar. ZERON 100 is also available as forgings, hot isostatically 20 (68) 550 (80) 750 (109) pressed components, seam welded tubing (for control lines, heat 50 (122) 470 (68) 700 (102) exchanger tubing, instrumentation tubing etc.), wire, wirelines, welding 100 (212) 430 (62) 670 (97) wire and covered electrodes. 150 (302) 400 (58) 620 (90) In some standards, such as ISO 15156 / NACE MR0175 and 200 (392) 380 (55) 610 (88) BS 4515-2, a slightly different PREN formula is used that includes 250 (482) 370 (54) 600 (87) = %Cr + 3.3(%Mo + 0.5 x %W) + 16 x %N. With this tungsten: PREN 300 (572) 360 (52) 590 (86) formula ZERON 100 has a PREN > 41. The properties for forgings are typical values for section thicknesses Mechanical Properties up to 300mm (11.81”) solid or 250mm (9.84”) in an annulus with a minimumbore of 100mm (3.94”). The following guaranteed minimum properties are available in the solution annealed condition. As the properties from forgings are very dependent upon the product route and the actual forging ratio, then properties and design are by agreement Room Temperature for other than standard items. There is no true ductile brittle transition, just a gradual decrease in impact energy as the temperature is lowered. The impact energy varies according to product type and ZERON 100 Pipe work for reverse osmosis applications. production route. Some typical values are shown in Figure 1 on the following page. The impact strength of welded ZERON 100 is slightly less than that of parent metal (See also figure 1). 3 Present data suggests that 40J (30 ft. lbf) is a suitable acceptance Thermal Conductivity criterion for duplex stainless steels and Figure 1 shows that 40J is Typical values for wrought ZERON 100. achievable with all product forms of ZERON 100 down to very low temperatures. Table 6 - Thermal Conductivity However, to obtain good impact toughness after welding, a higher Temp, Thermal Conductivity °C (°F) level of impact toughness is required in the parent metal. ZERON 100 Wm-1 K-1 Btu/hr ft °F typically has a Charpy toughness > 70J at -50°C (-58°F). 20 (68) 12.9 7.5 Figure 1 - Typical Charpy Impact toughness transition curves 100 (212) 14.4 8.4 150 (302) 15.4 8.9 200 (392) 16.3 9.5 250 (482) 17.3 10.1 300 (572) 18.2 10.6 Thermal Expansion The typical thermal expansion coefficient of wrought and cast ZERON 100 is much lower than that of austenitic stainless steel and reasonably close to that of carbon steel, as follows: Table 7 - Linear Thermal Expansion - SI Metric Units Linear Thermal Expansion Coefficient, 10-6 K-1 Temp, °C 20-100 20-200 20-300 ZERON 100 12.8 13.3 13.8 Fasteners Carbon Steel 11.5 12.2 12.9 Solution annealed ZERON 100 has a high strength level which is Austenitic 16.8 17.2 17.6 satisfactory for many fastener applications.
