LOGAN COUNTY COURT OF COMMON PLEAS FAMILY COURT DIVISION PROBATE OFFICE MARRIAGE LICENSE INFORMATION: Marriage license may be obtained from the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday. No appointment is needed. Our office is closed all weekends and legal Holidays including the day after Thanksgiving. The Probate Court is located at the Logan County Court Center, 101 S. Main Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Below is a list of guidelines to follow in order to obtain a marriage license in Logan County: The applicants must be present together in our office at the time of application. Both applicants must be 18 years of age without parental consent. The groom must be 18 regardless and the bride must be at least 16 years of age with consent from custodial parents who must be present and provide proper identification. In the case of divorced parents, the custodial parent must provide proof of custody. Both applicants must have valid identification which includes an unexpired driver’s license or State ID card, a certified copy of birth certificate, Passport or Military ID. We will ask that your Social Security number be provided. If either applicant has been married previously, applicant must provide a certified copy of the most recent Divorce or Dissolution signed by the Judge. It must show the Court seal. If the applicant is a widow or widower, a certified copy of the Death Certificate listing applicant as surviving spouse. The cost of a marriage license is $55.00. The Court accepts cash or credit / debit as payment. Ohio law provides that residents of Ohio apply for a marriage license in the county where one of the applicant’s resides in order to be married in the State of Ohio. Out of state residents may apply for their marriage license in Logan County however the marriage ceremony must take place in Logan County. The five day waiting period is waived by our Judges’ as long as the above guidelines are followed. Blood tests are no longer required in Ohio. If an applicant does not speak or understand English, a translator will need to be present at the time of the marriage application. Please call the Court at 937-599-7252 to make arrangements. In addition, proper translation of any foreign document must be provided. You can request a Certified Copy of your Marriage Record after the person who solemnized your ceremony has mailed the Marriage Certificate back to the Court. The fee for a Certified Copy is $2.00.
