LABAR, Edna LaBar (Abstracted by courtesy of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home, Perry, FL and Mayo, FL) Edna LaBar, 94, of Perry, died Sunday, June 2, 2013 at her residence. Edna was born January 10, 1919 in Andover, NJ, to the late Joseph and Eva (Trauger) Riddle. Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 50+ years Robert LaBar and one son Robert LaBar Jr. Edna was of the Presbyterian Faith and in her spare time she enjoyed reading and gardening. She is survived by 3 daughters: Roberta LaBar Sanders of Perry; Beverley Willard of Michigan; and Sharon Harty of Perry; 1 sister: Ilamay Vendola of New Jersey; 11 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren. All arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home. LABARBERA, Gerald S. LaBarbera (Abstracted from the February 11, 2015 Waycross, GA Journal Herald Newspaper) Gerald Stephen LaBarbera, age 65, passed away Saturday (Feb. 7, 2015) in Jacksonville, FL. He was an avid golfer and well known in the Jacksonville golf community. He loved boating and spent a large amount of time in his favorite vacation spot, Key West, FL. He is survived by 1 daughter, Kristen, and 2 sons, Kurt and Kip; his wife, Tonya, and her 2 daughters, Tamara and Jacqueline; 1 brother, Marty, and his family, wife, Lela, and children, Adam, Jason, Reece, and Lindsay. The funeral will be Saturday at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 6801 Merrill Road, Jacksonville, FL. Entombment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, Jacksonville. LACY, Arch Lacy (Abstracted from the Madison Enterprise-Recorder Newspaper, Madison, Florida, May 25, 1962) Arch Lacy died May 16th in the Lake City Veteran’s Hospital after a short illness. He was 72 years old and a native of Jefferson County but had spent the past five years in Madison where he was the Tallahassee newspaper carrier for the past three years. Funeral services were held Friday May 18th in the Calvary Baptist Church in Monticello. Survivors are his wife, one son, Andy Lacy; one daughter, Mrs. Voncile Hunter; one brother, Tom Lacy; and four sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Parrish, Mrs. Karl Trefry, Mrs. Curtis Sullivan and Mrs. C. B. Routt; and four grandchildren. LACY, James Earnest Lacy (Abstracted from the 22 September 2017 Waycross, GA Journal Herald Newspaper) A celebration of life service for James Earnest Lacy, age 64, of Homerville, will be Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church, Forest Avenue, Homerville. He was born Dec. 13, 1952 in Homerville to the late Ardelphus Lacy Sr. and Alice Williams Lacy. He received his formal education in the Homerville public school system where he attended Homerville Elementary and Homerville High School. He was baptized at an early age at Antioch Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was deployed to Vietnam and was awarded the Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Services Medal with Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He was a free spirit. He loved life and enjoyed both family and friends. He also loved music and had several favorites, The Canton Spirituals, The Mighty Cloud of Joy and Tupac being the top of his list. During his union with the late Betty Lacy, four children were born, April, Herbert, Shonda and Latoya. He departed this life Sunday (Sept. 17, 2017) at Clinch Memorial Hospital, Homerville, after a brief illness. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ardelphus Lacy Jr. Those left to cherish his memory include four children, April, Herbert, Shonda and Latoya Lacy, a brother, Christopher Smith (Audrey), three sisters, Marilyn Lacey (Al Williams), Sheila Bishop and Lavern Glover, 22 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Interment will be in Pine Forest Cemetery with military honors. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fluker Funeral Home of Homerville. LAIRD, Emma A. (Abstracted from the Madison Enterprise-Recorder Newspaper, Madison, Florida, October 8, 1965) Emma A. Laird, age 73, of Greenville, FL passed away last Thursday in the Thomasville hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Laird spent many years teaching in various schools in West Florida counties which included Madison County. She retired from teaching in 1934 to become Postmaster in Greenville, retiring in 1956. She was a member of the Greenville Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband C. S. Laird of Greenville; one daughter, Mrs. J. A. Miller and two grandsons of Greenville, and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Deal of Geneva, AL. Funeral services were held Saturday October 2nd in the Greenville Methodist Church with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. LAIRSEY, Alva Lairsey (Abstracted from the 20 July 2017 Waycross, GA Journal Herald Newspaper) 1 Alva “Laverne” Lairsey, age 68, died Wednesday (July 19, 2017) at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL following a short illness. She was born in Bacon County and lived there many years before moving to Waycross. She was a homemaker and business manager for Lairsey Plumbing of Waycross. She was also a faithful member of Olivet Baptist Church and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to so many others. She was a daughter of the late Barry Alvin Rigdon and Grace Waters Rigdon. She was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Gracie Smith, a sister, Nellie Hill, and three brothers, Luther Ricketson, Irvin Rigdon and Earl Ricketson. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Charles “Eddie” Lairsey Jr. of Waycross; two children, Stacy Williams of Waycross, and Ginger Williams (Matt) Oxford of Waycross; four grandchildren, Nicole (Kyle) Smith, Will Williams, Stetson Oxford and Kassidy Oxford, all of Waycross; one great-grandson, Waylon Smith of Waycross; four sisters, Gertha (Bob) Brubaker of Akron, Ohio, Martha Watson of Gainesville, Latrelle Turner of Jacksonville, FL, and Shirley (Leon) Davis of Blackshear; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral will be Saturday at Olivet Baptist Church. Burial will follow in High Bluff Cemetery. Music Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. LAIRSEY, Billy Gene Lairsey (Abstracted from the 9 August 2017 Waycross, GA Journal Herald Newspaper) Billy Gene Lairsey, age 77, of Waycross, died Tuesday (Aug. 8, 2017) at his residence after an extended battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Waycross to the late Lewis Crawford Lairsey and Evelyn Crews Lairsey. A successful businessman, his career in insurance sales spanned 40 years with a majority of that time as a salesman for the Combined Insurance Company of America. He was a charter member of New Life Assembly of God, previously Westside Assembly of God. He was a true “family” man. He loved his family and they loved him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-sister, Agnes Rockwell, and two half-brothers, Leroy Lairsey and Calvin Lairsey. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delores Howell Lairsey; 4 daughters, Becky (Wayne) James of Waycross, Anita (Jim) Russell of Valdosta, Billie Pamela (Robert) Knight of Columbus, Amy (Rich) Parker of Columbus; 1 son, Kevin (Teresa) Lairsey of Nahunta; 12 grandchildren, Devin (Haleigh) James, Emily (Taylor) Swinea, Tara (Matthew) Huggins, Jordan (Tyler) Horne, Matt Russell, Dylan Knight, Alexandria Knight, Dalton Lairsey, Kyle Lairsey, Gracie Lairsey, Hailey Parker, Coby Parker; a step-granddaughter, Shannon (Andy) Thomas; 3 great-grandchildren, Banks Huggins, Colin Swinea, Emma Grace James; 2 sisters, Margie Raulerson of Waycross, Dorcas (Cecil) Tuttle of Waycross; 3 brothers, L.C. Lairsey Sr., 66, died Sunday morning (April 30, 2006) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., but had lived most of his life in Pierce County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Starling Lairsey; his father, Cluis Thomas "C.T." Lairsey, and a brother, Gene Lairsey. He was retired from the Jacksonville Shipyard as a boilermaker. He was a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Mary E.
