UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS SUPPLEM1ENT TO THE MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ACADEMIC PERSONNEL 1991 ·92 PRESENTED TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SEP'FEMBER 12, 1991 UNIVBRSI'l'Y OF ILLINOIS ACADEMIC PERSONNEL SUPPLEMENT EXPLANATORY NOTES The supplement pages are numbered separately for each of the campus locations and the Central Administration with letter prefixes (Central Administration CA; Urbana-Champaign Campus UIUC; Chicago Campus UIC). The column to the far right contains the annual salary or other amount for the 1992 academic year, while the preceding column contains the amount for the 1991 academic year. In the column to the immediate right of the titles, the first symbol indicates tenure for academic employees, with the second symbol indicating services required during the year. It is followed by the 1992 full­ time equivalent for salaried positions. ACADEHIC TENURE SYHBOLS The tenure of academic staff is in accordance with Article X, Section 1 of the University of Illinois Statutes. The following tenure symbols are used in this supplement: A Indefinite term appointment for the percent of time indicated. Q Initial term appointment for a Professor or Associate Professor. (A staff member may have only one such term appointment.) T Terminal appointment and notice of non-reappointment. W One year appointment subject to special written agreement, without commitment for an indefinite term appointment or for service credit in a probationary period. N Term appointment not eligible to be appointed for an indefinite term and not credited towards probationary period. K Headship. As provided in the Statutes, the Head of a department is appointed without specified term. 1-7 The number of years which will be credited at the end of the appointment year towards completion of the probationary period required for an indefinite term appointment. SERVICES REQUIRED OF THE ACADEHIC STAFF The services required of the academic and administrative staff are in accordance with Article IX of the University of Illinois Statutes and Article Ill, Section l, of the General Rules Concerning University Organization and Procedure. The following codes indicate the service required: A Academic year of two semesters. E Same as A, except payable over nine months. Y Twelve months less vacation. X Requires service on a twelve months basis, less vacation, but with a different distribution of time between departments during the academic year. The portion of the appointment during the balance of the twelve months period will be indicated by the symbol •s•. N No obligation to render service and no commitment towards tenure. G Service dates specified on the individual's appointment. No additional compensation is allowed for summer services for any portion of salary indicated as "Y", "X", or •s•. For positions or portions of positions on an academic year service basis, services are required only during two semesters defined for payroll purposes as August 21 through Hay 20. Summer Session teaching, if required, will be covered by an additional appointment with salary at 2/9 of the annual rate for full-time service during an eight-week session. Summer research appointments are limited to two-months at 2/9 salary unless the appropriate Chancellor approves a longer period in exceptional circumstances. · Except for those positions coded as "E", all payments to academic staff are made on a monthly basis for the payroll year beginning August 21 in Urbana­ Champaign, and September 1 in Chicago. Individuals are listed in sections which reference the funding source for their appointment(s). The sections are 1) Appropriated Funds, 2) Institutional Funds, and 3) Restricted Funds. An index indicates the page or pages on which individuals are listed.
