ASN Senior Secondary School MAYUR VIHAR-I Dear Parents Summer Holidays are here again! A great time to enjoy, explore, bond and to engage in various creative pursuits to keep up the spirit of inquisitiveness and creativity alive. We at ASN believe in tapping the inherent talents of our young energetic learners so that they bloom into enlightened citizens. Keeping this in view the theme of this year’s Summer Vacation Project is The Rich Heritage – The Foot Prints From The Past. India is a country with extraordinary characteristics and diversity in terms of its geographical, linguistic, religious, social-cultural features. But still, you can find a thread of unity among Indians. So, to appreciate and imbibe the aesthetic values of the rich heritage of our country, the students have been given to work upon one of the rich Indian State. Also the school endeavours to enrich and equip the students to be the Global Citizens for which they need to explore The World Heritage Sites selected by UNESCO . All these remarkable accomplishments of humanity must be preserved and cherished for the generations to come . The School has been declared the 1st SDG Lab of India by United Nations Information Centre for India & Bhutan. So, we at ASN make a conscious effort to make each and every ASNite environmentally aware and socially responsible to promote environmental sustainability. The Holiday Homework has been very diligently designed to keep the children engaged constructively thereby instilling self learning and time planning. So, let us encourage our students who are bubbling with energy to gear up, explore, enjoy and pledge to protect our planet –Mother Earth. OVERVIEW: It is time to rethink how we grow, share and consume our food. If done right, agriculture, forestry and fisheries can provide nutritious food for all and generate decent incomes, while supporting people-centered rural development and protecting the environment. Right now, our soils, freshwater, oceans, forests and biodiversity are being rapidly degraded. Climate change is putting even more pressure on the resources we depend on, increasing risks associated with disasters, such as droughts and floods. Many rural women and men can no longer make ends meet on their land, forcing them to migrate to cities in search of opportunities. Poor food security is also causing millions of children to be stunted, or too short for the ages, due to severe malnutrition. A profound change of the global food and agriculture system is needed if we are to nourish the 815 million people who are hungry today and the additional 2 billion people expected to be undernourished by 2050. Investments in agriculture are crucial to increasing the capacity for agricultural productivity and sustainable food production systems are necessary to help alleviate the perils of hunger.
