Abhishekam was performed in honor of Lord Ganesha on occasion of Angaraka Sankatahara Chathurti. The temple celebrated Gana homa and Music Concert – Geeta Vaibhavam on Saturday May 16, 2009 at the new temple site in Alviso, San Jose. The day’s activities began with Ganesha and Hanumanji Abhishekam. After the Abhishekam, Gana homa was performed by Narayan Swamiji with the help of priests Manoj and Vitthaldas. Prabhu and Poonam Goelji were the guest of honor for the Gana homa. At the conclusion of the Gana homa, purnahuti was offered to the Lord. Hamuman Chalisa was also recited 108 times in praise of Hanumanji. After the homa was completed, Hanumanji Ratha Yatra began from the temple site. In the scorching heat, lot of people walked bare foot chanting Hanuman Chalisa while pushing the Devotees performing Gana Homa Ratha to the destination. The journey concluded at the School SARVOPANISADO GAVO auditorium where the program was being held. Number of local politicians attended the program and enjoyed the concert; San Jose Council member Ash Kalra, San Jose Council member Kensaw Chu and Santa Clara County Supervisor David Cortese graced the occasion. Dave Cortese honored Swamiji with a Commedation recognizing the contribution of Balaji Temple to the local Indian community in spreading the knowledge of the Vedas to the current and new generation.The program was organized by the temple committee and volunteers.
